Dr. Phil has a PhD in clinical psychology. Born in Oklahoma, he received his PhD from the University of North Texas. He got his television start from Oprah. His PhD dissertation was entitled "Rheumatoid Arthritis: A Psychological Intervention."




Oprah met Phil McGraw in 1995 when she served as a defendant in beef libel case. McGraw (and his company) were hired as a trial consultant.
