Document Version Control

Document Version Control is preferred by management to use especially during the testing stage of any project that they are working on. It allows documents to be checked out and opened in the original application from which they were created, or a baseline, as they call it. This document can be checked and edited using the original application. And then it can be checked again by using the revised version or another document altogether. By having several revisions, all the users will have the ability to track changes made to to the original document at every step in the development stage. There is also an audit trail which will help track who made the changes and what are the effects of the change to the project which is very important to any project.

Because everything is documented and controlled, this will ultimately improve business practices which is the every goal of every project. To be more blunt, the goal is to make it easier for everyone concerned.

Confusion is what happens when you do not have Document Version Control. It is not only confusing to the ones handling the project but also to the one managing it.

Document Version Control exists primarily for the reason of giving control to the handlers and the managers. This kind of control will determine if your project will succeed or not.
