your diet affect eczema

Their is a massive debate between the link of food and eczema. As we know food plays a massive role in how we are. Food is very correlated to mood. For example, if you drink a diet coke then it is likely you will become hyper but then later on you will crash and start to feel more tired and have less concentration. The big question is does what we eat affect our eczema?

Many experts argue that- apart from cows milk in babies and small children- what we eat has very little impact on eczema. Most experts believe that a change in diet is unlikely to improve eczema. However, there are many people who disagree with the experts and have notice considerable differences from excluding foods from their diet.

Skin-prick test

There is no definite way of testing for food allergy on the skin. There are currently something called skin-prick tests. These involve dropping a small amount of a solution contraining an extract of various foods on to the skin and then making a small prick in he skin, can narrow down the search for a culptir. If the rest is positive, a red weal appears. However, only half of those who have a posative skin-prick test develop symptoms of eczema after eating the food involved.

Again I would advise to keep a diary. There is no harm in checking whether food does or does not make a difference to your or your childs eczema. Try and note down each day what food you have eaten and any possible correlations with an eczema attack. if you can find a correlation then you will be able to pinpoint a clear culprit.
