I love the Haute Couture Leather Dog Collar! Simple and understated yet impressively suave. I changed to a dog harness with a hunting leash (I think they have other names too - it is 6m long but you have various clips and eyes to shorten it to as little as 1.5m). Since using that combo we've had no pulling with our excitable border collie and he's much more comfortable. Very interesting lens. It's an unusual subject to write about!

Once you have understood that electric dog collars are gentle and humane dog training tools, your next step is to choose the right electric collar and learn the right way to use it.

I know on tiny dogs they should wear a harness not a collar

Great job. It's been a long time since I have had a dog. Never really gave much thought about collars back in those days.

Very nicely done and quite thorough. I gave it a thumbs up! Congrats on your Angel Blessing.

Great lens on such an important topic. I have used a harness only for my dear little minnie, *-*Blessed*-* and featured on Angel blessings for Dogs on Squidoo - Gifts.

Some very impressive collars! There are some really good tips on here as well. I know you mention to start walking your dog with the dog actually behind you. What is the best way to do this when the pup just wants to move forward at their own pace. I've never had much of a problem with this until I got my wife a dachshund puppy

All you have to do is get your leg that is closest to the dog and gently, without losing stride, put your leg in front of the dog and nudge the dog back. If after doing that 2 or 3 times, the dog still doesn't get it, stop walking. Shorten the leash hold, nudge him back behind you and start walking again. Consistency is the key. As long as you keep repeating the action, the dog will eventually get. Just remember never to let him run out of the house ahead of you. You must make him sit and stay until you get out the door first. Once you are out the door, you can then call him out. That re-enforces that you are the pack leader and not him. Hope that helps. Try doing a search on YouTube on the subject. There is probably a video that will show you what I am talking about. Cesar the Dog Whisperer may have made one.

    Hi June, :-)
I have to say, some of these collars are absolutely awesome, almost too good for a dog, I know if I was in my twenties again I'd even consider wearing one myself lol, Only as a fashion accessory of course, Oh those were the days... No, don't start me off. Anyway top dog information as always and I'd have to give you 15 out of 10...
    Warm Regards,
    Clive

Great lens. Lots of collars. We have a Papillon dog, and we've used martingales when training. Right now our dog is well trained so we just use the Puppia harness when going for walks.
