I frequently talk about my dogs before storytime. Esmé (left) used to belong to a dog dance squad, loves to wear princess ball gowns and is a general diva. Not only does it break the ice and get children laughing, but it encourages children to talk about their own pets and tell stories both before and after storytime. (Narrative skills!!!) So of course we must have dog storytimes a few times per year!

The Doghouse

When Mouse's ball accidentally gets thrown into the doghouse, Mouse sends his friends Cow, Duck and Pig inside to retrieve it. But Mouse starts worrying when none of his friends return.
Word from the wise.... Should you act out this story with puppets and a storytime partner, make sure your partner can throw the ball accurately.... Otherwise you may end up with a black eye is storytime....
