When you own a pet dog, you should know about dog training and obedience. After all, dogs can be messy when undisciplined, and it could lead to so many concerns and frustrations at home. A well-behaved dog is a well-disciplined companion, one that will not bring any more headaches and dirty furnishings, and areas of the house.

If you will teach your dog how to be well-disciplined you can either teach him on your own or send him to a dog training school. But if you will teach him on your own that will get you and your dog closer to each other, strengthen your bond and establish yourself more as his master he should follow.

As a matter of fact, dogs are naturally pack animals. In every pack, a pack leader stands above whom everyone else should follow. If your dog does not know who his leader is and assumes the role of the leader in a human pack, he will become hard to manage.

If you will notice, a successful dog training and obedience program involves earning the dog's respect in his handler. To make this happen, the handler should display leadership skills and turn to proper training techniques. He should not resort to abusive treatment.

Basic dog training and obedience revolves around teaching the dog what to do and what not to do. If you want him to obey your commands, teach him basic ones which are heeling when walking, stopping on command, sitting when directed, coming when called and staying where the handler directs.

Of course, you should teach your dog not to do certain things. Some of "don'ts" your dog should remember are not jumping up on people, not forging ahead when walking, not chewing the furniture or your property, and not getting out of control when exposed to novel situations.

Dog training is not only focused on training your dog how to behave and display the right behavior. Dog training actually reinforces the social hierarchy which dogs, as pack animals, will follow. As I mentioned before, dogs are pack animals, so it is important that they have a leader to follow, and by having your dog follow your commands, it means he is showing compliance and submissiveness to you as his pack leader. This display of submissive attitude is what a member in a pack would show towards the alpha dog.

Of course, a dog training and obedience program will be not successful if there are no play sessions. A well-trained dog is a happy and energetic dog, because dogs have high energy which they'd like to use up on playtime. So make sure you have playtime in your training sessions.

There has been much debate as to which between puppies and older dogs are easier to train. Just like humans, dogs are better to teach when they are young. But it does not really show that older dogs cannot properly be trained anymore. Of course, it will take time for older dogs to learn, but dogs are excellent at developing new habits, which means you should not give up on your older dog if you want to train him.

When you are training puppies, keep in mind that they have a shorter attention span compared to older dogs, which means the lessons should be kept short at first. Aside from playtime, you should also incorporate socialization with other dogs and people to make sure he turns into a healthy and happy dog.

Review on "SitStayFetch" By Daniel Stevens

If you're a dog owner and are wondering if it's possible to turn your misbehaved, aggressive dog into a more lovable pet who obeys your every word, there's good news for you. Because it's possible - if you learn and apply the tips from the right training materials. One such material I recommend, which had helped thousands of dog owners worldwide, is "SitStayFetch" by Daniel Stevens.

What to expect
First things first. I was surprised when I purchased the ebook myself, expecting it to be some plain ebook full of text. But for a 175-page ebook, the author has clearly covered everything, and it's not all plain text, either. It has over 100 photos to help illustrate some of the lessons covered, making it a great visual learning tool.

As I mentioned, the ebook covers everything dog owners should know about owning and teaching their dogs effectively. Basically, it's divided into many chapters, so even first-time dog owners have something to learn here. The author first teaches the basics (owning a dog, puppy-proofing a room, dog breeds, how to house train a dog, etc) before teaching the more advanced stuff. This includes dog behavior (reasons why dogs behave in a certain way, aggressive behavior, excessive barking, chewing, digging, whining, rolling, etc), dog health, and advanced dog training and obedience commands and tricks.

As you read the ebook, you will realize that the author has laid out the lessons pretty nicely and smoothly, covering everything which dog owners, regardless of experience, should know. You will soon learn that Daniel clearly has a deep understanding of dogs, and why they act the way they do. It is full of common-sense and real-life approach backed by real case studies which let you learn why they worked, and how you can do it, too, to your dog. In short, he has not left anything out. For a 175-page ebook, it is surprisingly very informative, meaty and filled with both basic and advanced lessons laid out in easy-to-understand terms.

What I liked best, particularly, is what Daniel referred to as "dog whispering." This technique involves using the correct body language to effectively make the dog obey your command without problems. In fact, the author has devoted an entire section to it, covering its roots, concepts, and how you can apply it to everyday commands like sit, down, come, stay, quiet, etc.

To give you an idea, here are some of the many dog problems tackled in the ebook, and you will learn how to solve them from real-life case studies presented:

1. Aggression
2. Thieving
3. Biting and Nipping
4. Travel Problems
5. Coprophagia (poop eating)
6. 2 Dogs In The House
7. Destructive Behavior
8. A Death In The Family
9. Digging Holes
10. Bad Breath
11. Disobedience
12. Cat Chaser
13. Dominance Aggression
14. Flatulence
15. Fear of the Leash
16. Fleas
17. Fights Between Dogs
18. Hot Weather And Heatstroke
19. Nuisance Barking
20. Jealousy
21. Off-Leash Problems
22. Jumping On Furniture
23. Jumping On People
24. Worms

So, all in all, some of the techniques in the ebook are quite easy to apply, but some, like dog whispering, requires your persistence before you master them completely. In fact, you should devote some time training your dog using this ebook for you to succeed, because while many of these techniques can bring amazing results, if you're always busy and have little time for it, you will not likely see the results you want. So, don't buy it if you'll just read it and tuck it away.

Bonuses
Aside from the ebook, you will also get (as of this writing) seven bonuses with each covering specific areas of dog ownership. For one, the ebook is now offered as an audio download, to accomodate other people who learn better with audio, and so you can bring it with you anywhere you go. Other bonuses include manuals on how to handle dog agression, house training, dog grooming (including coat care for specific breeds and nail clipping), security training, becoming the alpha dog, and access to members only forum.

Conclusion
To sum it up, $37 is peanuts compared to the hundreds or even thousands you will save from hiring dog experts or from sending your dog to training schools which might not be as effective as the techniques you'll get from this manual. Add to it the fact that it has seven bonuses, the price is a steal. It is really a no-brainer decision. All in all, this is highly recommended.
