Dog Biting Training
Don't Let Your Dog Develop Bad Habits!
Usually, puppies are taught not to bite from their mothers. However, in most cases we get puppies as pets and thereby taking them away from their mothers at a very young age. Therefore the training is up to us to teach our new pet not to bite.
Dog biting needs to be addressed while they are young. Puppy teeth can be sharp, but adult dog teeth can cause a lot of damage. Biting could lead to all sorts of problems including legal action if your dog bites someone, particularly small children. Dogs have immense strength in their jaws. Permanent damages could be done even if your dog just nips a child. Training your puppy while young will help eliminate bad dog behavioral problems as they grow older.
One way to help train your puppy learn not to bite is to let your dog socialize with other dogs. If you start this from a young age they will quickly learn from their elders. Hopefully these older dogs have been taught well and will impress upon their young puppy friends the desire to bite needs to be curbed to avoid retaliation or an ensuing fight. Dog training school can be an avenue to allow interaction with other dogs. Here misbehavior can be quickly corrected. Generally during the first three months puppies should learn how to interact around other dogs. It is also wise to teach your puppy to behave correctly in the presence of other animals including cats. Dogs will come in contact with many animals over their lifetime.
Your puppy will become less aggressive as he grows older if he has been taught not to bite. The longer this dog behavioral problem is left unattended to the more difficult it will be for your dog to socialize correctly. Just like children, the sooner your puppy learns correct behavior patterns the better.
Dog biting training is very important to achieving a well trained dog. A well trained dog is more pleasant to live with.
If your puppy likes to bite and chew you can go to your local pet store where you will find many items that are available that can give your puppy suitable satisfaction to chew and bite upon. Even your vet can recommend chew toys to help curb biting. These dog toys will allow your puppy to learn what is right and what is not right to bite.
Remember that biting is natural for a puppy, however, training your dog not to bite is essential. Teach your pet while he is young. Be patient, kind, and loving, but also be firm and consistent in stopping your dog from unwanted biting. You will be glad that you gave your time so that your pet is safe and enjoyable to have around.CLICK HERE
