Just When You Thought it Was Safe!
Every dog owner remembers the dog food recall tragedy of 2007, when millions of pet owners franticly searched the internet to see if their brand of food was on the recall list. Well like all tragedies time has a way of making people forget, unless of coarse you were one of the thousands of pet owners that buried your pet in the back yard because of the incompetence of our government and the commercial pet food industry.
Fast forward to more recent times and now peanut butter Salmonella contamination is the latest thing to hit the dog food recall list. Even though it is a much smaller threat than the massive 2007 recall it should be a wakeup call to all pet owners that we should NEVER FORGET and we need to learn how to protect our loved ones from this Industry.
Protecting your dog from the next dog food recall is what this lens is about. We will show you what we learned from over a hundred hours of research trying to find a cure for our beagles seizures.
The FDA Can Not Protect Our Pets
Dog Food Recall Alerts Are All After The Fact.
What this means is all of us as responsible pet owners have a responsibility to learn how to safely feed our pets. Don't fool yourself if it comes down to a choice between profits and quality the pet food manufactures will be on the side of profits every time.
Shortly after my Beagle (Copper) started to have seizures, I started to do research on the Internet to try and find out if their was a cause and if I could do something to help him . This is when I stumbled onto the sick world of commercial pet food manufacturing practices.
After hundreds of hours of research trying to find a brand that I could trust I decided I had no choice but to learn how to cook for my dog. After learning how to prepare the meals so that they would have all the nutritional requirements he needed this has become as easy as preparing meals for the rest of the family.
I need to be truthful with you I did first try to take the easy way out... it's just so easy to open a bag and pour a cup a food into a dish.
The first thing I did was go to an upscale pet store that had a holistic reputation and their owners are good caring people that take the extra time to help their clients. They recommended we put Copper on TimberWolf Organic dog food which I did, for about a week.
Because of my hours of research on pet foods, I just couldn't help myself I had to do research on TimberWolf, and there is was... June 2008 TimberWolf had a recall. So there you have it a organic manufacture with a dog food recall.
That was it for me I immediately started to do research on making my own feed and thank God I found the answer to my prayers.

Testimonial
If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes I wouldn't believe it! My dog actually looks younger, it's amazing. He's also got much more pep.
He slowed down somewhat in the last few years and I put it down to approaching old age, but since I started feeding him the way you teach, he's had a new burst of life!
Once again he's running instead of walking, alert instead of sleeping... it's like having the young-guy back again, I love it.
Pretty sure he's rather pleased as well!
Thanks heaps Andrew,

You Can't Wait for The Next Major Pet Food Recall...
It Will Be To Late.
You might be lucky and your dog gets better or you could be like this poor pet owners who's post I found on a forum while doing my research... This was during the 2007 Pet Food Recall
"I just want to make everyone completely aware of the dangers this food poses to your pet.
You see, my great friend, Max, died recently. A seven year old beautiful Great Dane, who was closer to me then most people in my life died a slow, horrible and painful death.
He died in front of my two young children...blood pouring from his mouth. I carried his 120lb body (fully 20lbs less than a couple months before) and buried him in the rain. He died too young and I simply assumed he was the typical large breed that dies at an early age.
Apparently this was not the case. My ex-wife had been feeding Max various brands of "bits and gravy" wet food because she felt bad that the cats were getting wet food and Max was not...she had no idea that he was being poisoned with every bite.
He suffered for two months with all the symptoms. Diagnosis: Kidney failure maybe...perhaps liver failure....maybe even congestive heart failure. The vet just didn't know, but she felt he was too far gone to get an exact diagnosis.
I miss him beyond what words can convey and I am angered by this recent revelation of tainted pet food."
We can not take the chance that our dogs are being slowly poisoned and we won't find out until it's to late. If it's just one manufacture will you even know about it? Do you research on dog food recall lists everyday?
Don't take that chance do what I did and

- Chelsea I am very sorry to hear about Jack, and I urge you to stop feeding your other dog Beneful right now!
I don't know what formula you are feeding, but I took a look at the ingredients of a few formulas and they are full of by-products, Animal Digest and they all had Menadione Sodium Bisulfate listed which are all ingredients to avoid.
If you go to my other lens http://www.squidoo.com/best-dog-food-brands you can read why these ingredients are bad.
Also you need to know that they are all legal for Purina to use and that is the problem with this industry. Please read my other lens for more details, and again I am really sorry about your loss of Jack.

- I need any insight I can get into the dog food recall issue. My beloved Malamute Jack fell ill and we had to put him to sleep two weeks ago. We suspected it was his dog food but we thought we were just being overly sensitive, we took our other dog off of the food who was also sick, she recovered but we recently ran out of the new dog food and in started feeding her the old bag that we suspected might have made her and Jack sick in the first place and her symptoms came right back. She is tired, bloated and has horrible diarrhea. The dog food in question is Beneful. I contacted Purina and sent them a sample of the food....Please, anyone who might have helpful information, please send me an email chelesahsa@gmail.com

- We were one of the few lucky breeders who had decided a long time ago (10 yrs) to feed our Olde English Bulldogge our own dogfood made at our local feed mill. And there fore did not have the poisoning problem many of our breeder associates did, including a few who lost every dog they had. (our dog food is not marketed just personal use)
Your opinion on the individual ingredient would be greatly appreciated and perhaps your input on what to recommend to those of our puppy/dog families who do not want to cook their own food. Bulldog and Bulldogge breeds can be sensitive to their diets.
list ingredients:
whole ground wheat and No Corn grain mids, fish meal and pork/bone meal (no intestines, snouts, hoofs), brewers yeast, whey, saflower oil, mineral salt, Sockaid III (vitamin/mineral pkg), biofos, lysine, molasses as binder...no preservatives, no artifical flavors/colors, and no sprayed on grease
Again opinion very welcom

- The dog food recall was really quite depressing. As pet owner, I was lucky that I was not affected by that incident but really I felt for pet owners who were. This lens is a great help for all pet owners who wishes nothing but safety for their beloved pets.

- Owning three dogs myself the subject of dog food recall is very close to my heart. I have been lucky enough never to have been affected by this but became very careful after the last big scare. Excellent lens with some great tips and info not to mention some really cute doggie pics!

- My dog threw up 3 times a day before I figured out it was the food. The manufacturer denied any problems. Very disappointing and horrible customer service.
