Very informative! One of my dogs has the inhalant type of allergy but we have been very lucky in that it is only a problem for about 5-10 days per year and he responds well to benadryl if get gets bad. I love the idea of using natural medicines to help him, but as he is huge and older with health issues (heart and occasional seizure and more) I will print some off for his vet to check out first- she really likes the natural products as well, she just likes to check each ingredient for interactions with the odd mix of stuff he takes. Thank you so much I am sure that you have helped many dogs feel much better!!

My Jack Russell had an allergy in THE SUMMER and nothing in the winter this was puzzling and there was no answer from the vets he also had an additional problem with mast cell tumors. The cure came when a freind of a vet found a solution remove the kibble and replace it with raw meant diet such as Natures Menu. Within two days the dog was clear of irritation it seems thhat the solution is to remove the source of allergens. There has been no return of the mast cell tumors.Tom

My shih-tzu had severe skin allergies for 3 1/2 years. Sores on his paws, ear infections, itching and scratching until sores appeared on his body. I spent thousands of dollars on Vet Derms by doing allergy shots, medicated shampoos, creams, special food, children Benedryl etc. Finally a Vet put him on a steriod-anti-histamine pill Temaril-P. Within 24 hrs he completly stopped itching and within 1 week all sores were healed on this paws. It is the ONLY thing that works!! He had no side affects. Save time, money and your pet's suffering.

Isn't it something that we humans talk about our allergies, but think about the pets of ours who are closer to the ground ... and those allergies. Precious the cat has a seasonal allergy and has been sneezing a lot this time of year.

What can I do to help my German Shepherd who has kennel cough - he is worse since my vet prescribed an antihistamine: nose is running so badly that all I hear is fluid moving in and out as he breathes. He is right now trying to sleep with his mouth open in order to breathe.

My dog is taking Benadryl for kennel cough, but seems to be worse since starting antihistamine treatment. is that possible? His nose is so full of fluid that it's all i hear when he breathes. I feel so bad for him. How can I help him?

Great lens! I'm going through this with my Pitbull mix. I found an alternative vet in the area and switched today because the previous one of 8 years never helped with solutions for her. They said she was allergic to protein, yeast infection (bad one), flea allergy and was diagnosed without doing any tests. They wanted me to walk out with a $200 bag of food, give her a shot, antibiotic pills and steroid pills. That was their solution and I was in the room for only 5 minutes!
My dog was on Wellness Core for 9 mths (lost 12lbs - at the right weight now 59lbs) and switched to Wellness Simple Venison/Rice, (2 wks) too early to see a change but it's less ingredients than the Core.
I'm getting her thyroid test done so I can start her on a natural yeast kit (working from the inside out), but can't start it until I know the thyroid is working properly. The goal is to have her completely on natural products and no steroids....hopefully!
I will look into some of the products listed here.
