Our pet's become part of the family...shouldn't we take care of them in any way we can?

We love our furry little kitty's and puppy dogs. We treat them as part of the family and love them oh so much...as they're love and devotion to us has definitely earned. So wouldn't it make sense to do everything we can for them in their time of need? Just as we would with a human member of our family or one of our dear friends...

Many dogs and cat's, especially in their younger years become weaker, more tired and many of our furry friends will develop arthritis. This is just the passage of time and mother nature, but it doesn't have to be a hard a brutal process on both you're pet and yourself. You have to just treat it as any other stage and life, and you have to understand that it's OK and you do  options for treatment.

You don't have to dish out large sums of cash to get your dog or beloved cat into better shape and on the road to a full recovery if possible. I wouldn't even recommend visiting your vet, as they can do nothing more then shrug it off or recommend exactly what I will recommend in this Len's.

Please read up! The information and resources in this Len's are worth you're pets bones and health!

So what is dog & cat arthritis & how is it caused?

The condition of arthritis is the same for both humans and animals, and both humans and animals posses the same symptoms and the same disabling factors from arthritis.

Arthritis is basically damage that is caused to the joints of the body and bone structure. Over 90% of dogs & cat's will suffer from arthritis in their later years as they age.

There are many different forms of arthritis, and just like with humans, the same conditions and symptoms exist with animals.

Different kinds of arthritis:

  • Rheumatoid arthritis & animals: In both animals and humans, this type of arthritis is caused by the body's immune system attacking itself and caused inflammation in the dog or cat's joints. This is the most rare kind of arthritis in dogs and cats.

  • Septic arthritis is almost always a direct cause of joint infection and occur more often in animals then Rheumatoid arthritis. This can usually be a result of a past injury to the bone or surrounding tissue in the dog or cat. It is more common in extremely active dogs or cats.

  • Gouty arthritis is a direct cause of deposits of uric acid crystals in the joints of the dog or cat that result in followed inflammation. This kind of arthritis is somewhat common among dogs and cats.

  • Osteoarthritis is the most common type of arthritis in both animals and humans. This type of arthritis is more of a degenerative type of joint disease and can occur following joint trauma, but is most often simply a direct result of aging.

  • Remember, that while both human and animal arthritis symptom's can be very similar, dogs and cats (especially dogs) age at a much faster rate then humans do and with much shorter lifespans, this results in the symptom's getting worse at a quicker rate.

It is very important to remember that these are simply natural occurrence's and by no means are the fault of you the owner. You also have many treatment options for your pet!

Arthritis in dog! Arthritis in dog! These ads are everywhere...look elswhere!

Sometimes, not all treatments are created equal...

When it comes to arthritis treatments for arthritis in dog, the same rules apply just as for humans...in that not all treatment options are created equal.
This is particularly close to my heart so I wanted to bring this to every one's attention today.

First off, any ad that claims is can completely cure the arthritis in you're dog is nothing more then sales hype and you'll end up with poor results, disappointed, and most importantly, valuable recovery time for your dog or cat. Arthritis just like in humans, can NOT be cured, this is very unfortunate, but is simply the cold hard truth. But there are many treatment options out there that are extremely effective in helping fight arthritis in dog and making it much easier on your pet.

Second of all, like I've already mentioned above, powdered glucosamine products hold no weight what so ever when stacked up against liquid glucosamine products. This is simply because liquid glucosamine isn't broken down like the powder form, meaning much more gets to the joints.

And last but not least...not all liquid glucosaime products are created equal either! I hate seeing advertising for one product in particular; I'm talking about a liquid glucosamine product called "Flexicose".

This product was nothing more then a ripoff from Synflex to begin with. It has been proven to not only be no were as effective as Synflex for Pets, but all it's "ingredient claims" have been aggressively dis-proven.

Synflex for Pet's has also just wrapped up a lawsuit against "Flexicose" and thankfully, the courts are in the process of shutting this operation down for good. You can read more about the lawsuit and it's details here.

The whole point of this post, or this little "rant" of mine is to try and get people to understand that not all treatments are the same, and for the sake of you're pet to stick to what is proven and what works! The more time you spend "experimenting with failed products the more the arthritis in dog takes over, and the less happy moments you have to share with you're pet.

How can arthritis in dog's and cat's be treated?

There are many treatment options for pet's

There is no reason to feel at a lose when it comes to finding treatment for you're beloved pets. You as a pet owner really do have many different treatment options available for you're pet. While there are a decent amount of treatment options available to you, not everything is a good choice for you're pet. Here are some things to watch out for, and what you SHOULD look for in treatment options:

What not to use on you're pet & why...

Not everything out there is effective...

Hopefully by this point you understand that you as a pet owner have many treatment options available for your beloved pet. However, not all treatment routes are created equal, and most are simply a waste of money.

NOTE:First off, I want to make it very clear that my knowledge of this subject is based on experience and not just something that I've read about and decided to post up for some quick traffic. I have a 12 year German Shepherd with arthritis in her hips (which is very common for this bread), so I've been through a wide range of treatment options.

The following is simply a waste of money & far more importantly...time:

  • While this would be the exact opposite for humans, when it comes to cat's and dog's, visiting you're veterinarian is simply a waste of time and money. This is because there are no special or prescription treatments that a veterinarian can provide for you're pet. Remember that animal research does not have nearly the same financial support that human research does. Don't worry though, there is plenty of information out there...like here! :)

  • Don't try and using any sort of hypnosis, or herbal treatments on your pet. These simply don't work, and even you're dog or cat will look at you and think "you must be joking".

  • If you've been looking for treatment for pet arthritis, then you've probably heard about glucosamine. In my extensive experience and those of others, glucosamine is usually the only thing that works...and yes it works very well. However, be very careful of glucosamine products in powdered and/or pill form. These are very quickly broken down by the stomach acids and liver of you're pet and end up in their stool...not their bones where it should be.

When it comes to glucosamine, specially formulated liquid glucosamine is the only way to go. More on why & where to find it in the next section.

  • What can Liquid Glucosamine do for you're pet...just listen to this person.

I recieved this email from someone who had something to say about the difference of liquid glucosime, and the other stuff out there. I think her experience simply show's that you do have options to treat you're pets arthritis.

"Our 12-year old min-schnauzer was having a real hard time walking and trying to go up and down our steps to go outside. The vet gave him an arthritis medication but I was reluctant to use it. I checked all the information and testimonials on Syn-flex and decided to give it a try. It seemed to work within 2-3 days with our Bunky. Where he could barely walk before, he was almost running with the other younger dogs within a week. At the same time I was using the product for my arthritis in my knee and felt a huge improvement immediately. When we ran out of the product I didn't re-order, thinking I could some like products from the pet stores. No way did they work the same. I just received my first re-order of Syn-flex, Bunky has taken 3 doses and is again his lively, playful self that he was before when he took it. THANK YOU for this wonderful product"

So What Is The Advantage of Liquid Glucosamine Over Pill or Powder Form Glucosamine?

Something you need to know to improve you're pets health!

This is a question that I have received a lot in the past and still do to this day, and that's perfectly fine and understandable as I had the same questions and concerns for the well being of my pet as well.

While there may not be a huge difference between glucosamine products in terms of dosage, there is actually a massive difference in the way that the body of both humans and animals accept and process glucosamine.

Glucosamine in both powder and pill form spend too much time in the digestive system and get trapped too long in the liver and are broken down. When taken in pill or liquid form, you'll be lucky if any unbroken glucosamine ever reaches the needed joint and bone areas.

So I can already hear you say..."OK so how is liquid glucosamine any different?"

That's a very fair question, and one that should be answered before you decide what you're pet needs to be treated.

Liquid glucosamine is very different in the fact that it does NOT spend nearly as much time in the digestive system and can deliver a higher and much more effective does of the much needed glucosamine to the affected areas. In fact, liquid glucosamine spends 75% less time in the digestive system then other forms. Also, with glucosamine in liquid form, the time spent in the liver is far less and has much smaller impact on the liver...which simply means that the liver does not see it as being a toxic substance and let's it pass much easier (liquid glucosamine is NOT toxic by any means).

Now what MUST be stressed is that NOT all forms & brands of liquid glucosamine are created equal. So pay attention to the next section...it can save you from making terrible mistakes that will end up costing you're pet valuable healing time!

Our beloved pets make us so happy...watch & be happy now! :)
