Dog Bloggers: There's no people like dog people....

Ranked #1,280 in Pets & Animals, #34,527 overall

Dogs are: an obsession, a passion, a way of life for dog bloggers!

Dogs are all of that for "dog people." We buy our clothes based on which color won't show fur or pawprints. We buy our vehicles based on which has room for our dogs' crates and all their gear. We buy our furniture to match our dogs' coats, because you can Swiffer the floor, but you have to drag out the vacuum for the furniture. And because it's the dog's arch-nemesis, we only drag it out when company's coming, or when the dust-bunnies threaten to become pets.

We're not necessarily the ones who think dogs are fashion accessories, although we do think twice about going places that don't allow them. We're the ones who play in all the dog sports and events, who know the heartbreak and joy of having puppies, whose friends are tolerant when we have to schedule movie dates around training classes and trials - mostly because most of them have their own training schedules.

I've listed the blogs in the order I discovered them, because each successive discovery was a joy in itself. Independent voices of very different individuals, whose lives intersect through our mutual love of dogs.

The Golly Log

Golly Log is our blog. It's supposed to be publicity for our store: Golly Gear, but it's usually just about us and our dogs. As we say in the intro:

Roger Caras said "Dogs are not our whole life but they make our lives whole." He was wrong. When you live with four, obedience train two, agility train two and co-own a dog boutique; dogs are your life. And life is good.

I should know better

I should know better is the first fellow-dog-blogger I found. Active in breeding and showing Papillons (and a Japanese Chin) her sense of humor (and the ridiculous) is a joy in every post. In her own words, this blog is the

Saga of a woman old enough to know better who lets her life be governed by the ridiculous hobby of breeding and showing dogs, musing on life, the twenty first century, Brown and the occasional sheep.

"IN DOG YEARS, I`M DEAD"

The Poodle (and dog) Blog

The Poodle (and dog) Blog addresses dogs in the headlines, the legislatures and the home. Her wry observations often make us chuckle - be sure to check her archives for the adventures of Charlie, her guinea fowl guest.

This blog is to celebrate the remarkable, the ordinary, and the very funny dogs that share our world.

Uncivil

More pure blogger than dog-blogger, Uncivil's love for his pups (shared with his ex-wife) shines through. Although he can, on occasion, live up to his nom de plume.

A Redneck rambles about his dogs and life in general.

Agility Nerd

Agility Nerd helps me learn more about agility, from a student's perspective. With a charming dose of "geek."

One of my goals for this site is to share the lessons, trials (in all senses of the words), and tribulations of a "regular guy" dog trainer and handler.

Fuzzy Logic

Fuzzy Logic and I are on opposite ends of the dog spectrum, size-wise. And yet, we're very much kindred spirits. We've both given our dogs names from Star Trek - and we both admit it!

Bullmastiffs are very much like Klingons. Aloof and distant with strangers, utterly and completely loyal with their loved ones. With a high sense of honor and structure, they believe there is a right and wrong way to do things. At home, hugely loving. In public, imposing beasts.

Frogdog Blog

The writer of Frogdog Blog is wonderful at keeping the world in perspective. And she shares lots of puppy pictures when she occasionally has a litter. There are very few things in the world cuter than Frenchie puppies!

Notes from a French Bulldog breeder, on breeding, ethics and French Bulldogs in general......

Brutus The Frenchie

Brutus The Frenchie is a world-traveller - in his flat form, that is! His mom Michelle started the Flat Brutus world tour as a fund-raiser for French Bulldog Rescue. I now have the honor of calling Michelle, Brutus' mom, a friend.

Brutus was born in July 2008. His human, Michelle, is blogging to share his accomplishments & antics.

Johann The Dog

Johann is a dog blogger, quite literally. He's an active guy who loves agility and as a rescue himself, is always looking out for the other guy. And an accomplished Squidooer!

I do like blogging. Besides agility, I think it just may be one of my favorite things. It's fun to write about your life, share it with others, meet new pups and humans, and read all about the fun things that they do.

Tip Tail

Tip Tail is a blogger with a cause - collie rescue. And she walks the walk; often hosting fosters for Collie Rescue.

Tip Tail is mainly dedicated to the training, behavior, and loves of three smooth blue collies and one border collie. These dogs eat a raw food diet, do agility, obedience, and some flyball, go for walks, and get the best medical care they can. I consider myself their guardian, not their owner, as I believe all animals, human and non, have the same value on this earth.

team small dog

Agility Nerd led me to Team Small Dog - for which I owe him many thanks!

Laura Hartwick is the leader of Team Small Dog. Many people know her as the lady with all those little black dogs. Many people know her as a horse trainer. Many people know her as the artist with the small brushes. Many people know her as that hoity graphic designer. None of them would be wrong!

Life is Better with Sheltie Hair

GeeRome found me, commented and I've been addicted to her blog Life is Better With Sheltie Hair ever since!

These are the chronicles of two Shetland Sheepdogs and their adventures in rally-o, obedience, flyball, agility, tracking and therapy dog work.
Also including information on raw feeding, canine epilepsy, positive training, and lots and lots of Sheltie hair!.

Dooce

Okay, I know Dooce is usually classified as a mommy-blogger, but her dogs make regular appearances. And anyone who takes a daily photo of her dogs has got tendencies to being one of us!

My name is Heather B. Armstrong. Some of you may remember me as Heather B. Hamilton. I am married to a charming geek named Jon. We live in Salt Lake City, Utah, with our four-year-old daughter, Leta Elise, and our six-year-old SuperMutt, Chuck, and a four-month-old miniature Australian Shepherd, Coco. The chaos in our house is unreal.

    Hi Everyone

I'm Janet and I run a small business here in the UK called Cumbria Dog Training
    (http://www.cumbria-dog-training.com/) which includes home boarding.

So that owners can see what their dog are up to while they're apart, I have a blog about them
    which includes lots of photos.

I get alot of owners expressing their gratitude so if you get the chance, please look it up.

    Happy New Year to everyone

Yes, http://www.amazinggraciedog.com. Since adopting our first puppy mill dog, Gracie, I am a dog blogger. I write about Gracie's life since rescue and some of the foster dogs that we since worked with once we had our eyes opened to the lives of so many wonderful dogs.
