There is something for everyone in this book!

The newest publication in the show dog world is perfect for not only the first time exhibitor but the pet owner as well. It is very informative on the subject of dog shows , entering, showing, and so on, but also has a fabulous section of everything from socializing the new puppy to clicker training, to  puppy potty training and crate training to traveling safely with a dog. There are puppy training tips on how to stop puppy biting and aggression too. There is even a great section for  when you are traveling with your dog, and training  your dog to eat and eliminate in places other than his own yard.

Dogshows 101 is the title. It is well worth the price! I highly recommend it. The rave reviews show that it is worth your investment!

You can tell you're a Dog Show exhibitor when...

  • A grooming table is a permanent fixture in your living room.
  • The only hairbrush in your bathroom is a dog brush.
  • You fall back on the dog's hair conditioner when you run out of your own.
  • Your vehicle is a van, regardless of the cost of gas.
  • The coffee tables in your living room are gone, to be replaced by the tops of dog crates.
  • You have no "dress clothes" except for long skirts with pockets in them.
  • Your dog dryer is more important to have on a trip than your hair dryer!
  • Your kids know you would disown them if they got married or had any babies during National Specialty Week.

Dont be a copycat at the dog show!

(An excerpt frm the new book)

"Often you will see top handlers that will be standing in front of the judge or presenting the dog to the judge in a particular manner such as placing one hand beneath the belly of the dog and placing the other hand beneath the chin...or perhaps holding the dog's tail upright or over the back or some other sort of technique. Watching this, you may say to yourself, that looks pretty cool, I'll do that with my dog! Don't make this mistake it is a common mistake of a "newbie". Your dog may have a bad topline. Running your hand along that topline is only going to point out to the judge how bad the topline is." See the Book HERE

Trainee dogs

Hi,
There are many different techniques in training dogs, and the most human, and effective ones involve positive reinforcement. Choke chains, yelling, smacking.... etc rarely works in raising a happy well behaved dog. Instead, it creates fear and mistrust.

I like your lens, some good info.
Did you know that people with a dog phobia can use self help hypnosis to overcome fear of dogs?
