Cute Animal Clothes, Dog Toys & My Darling Doggie's Secret Life
Ranked #3,651 in Pets & Animals, #92,917 overall | Donates to ASPCA
Meet Maxwell! She is a TRUE Pirate and One Cute Animal (?)
We love our pets don't we? They make us laugh, seem to understand our tears and a dog's loyalty cannot be matched. We want to pamper them in return. Dog clothes, dog toys, special treats, sound familiar? Well yes but it certainly does not end there with my dog little princess Maxwell, as she is a pretty spoiled girl who just happens to be quite excentric. There is a side to this little diva of mine that others would never have guessed. Ahh me, such an INNOCENT face.
Maxwell has a secret life! It is true! Among other things she has a night job where she goes after we fall asleep at night, and I am guessing that MUST be where she gets all her money. I confess she is a true mystery.
Follow my journey with a magical little shelter dog that after being rescued has given more to us than might ever be imagined.
THE PROFITS MADE FROM THIS LENS WILL BE DONATED TO THE ASPCA.

Who am I? I Am My Doggie's Keeper!
Who is Kathy Ostman-Magnusen?
ABOUT Kathy Ostman-MagnusenI am an artist, I paint and sculpt women primarily; in their daily lives, in lives they might be afraid of, and in lives they wish they had. My goal has always remained the same; to hear them breathing and to know the passion I feel in my soul is met by theirs.
It is not possible to feel apathetic while standing next to passion. I don't paint landscapes to hang above someone's couch, paintings meant to be a resting place for the mind? I want to paint feelings that one cannot dismiss. I hope to stir up feelings that overwhelm within the viewer as well as myself. It is not my goal to feel nothing but a sunny day or peacefulness, shiny trinkets that rest on walls that can be walked away from. I want to paint women who feel something. I paint myself as I define it and revel in the fact that I am made whole by my own journey of introspection.
I want to paint strength, sexuality, pain, power, a force of intensity, emotional qualities that generate a reaction. I don't want to paint the sky, I want to paint the dominance of the wind that caused it to be felt on ones skin, in the form of a woman. I pick up my brush or clay between my fingers and consider a certain belligerence, an attitude of confidence that meets the power I need to form an energy outside myself and I welcome it in. I paint or sculpt until I hear them breathing and their breath becomes my own.
In every single one of my paintings my objective is to 'know them' . To let each one reveal their own vision or message. I am often astounded as their presence unfolds & I am met with who they are. I then realize that who 'they' are, defines me as well. My hope is that my paintings & sculptures relate to you, their audience & that they give you the message you need for your own heart and soul.

I Want to Dress My Doggie in a Pink Tutu - Am I Crazy?
My Poem About Maxwell
"I Want to Dress My Doggie in a Pink Tutu - Am I Crazy?"I want to dress my dog in pink
yes in a pastel pink tutu.
So what do you think?
This canine could sparkle
ruffled edges with a lavender bow?
I think she could look quite remarkable!
It seems to be the craze
doggies in top hats
or queen for the day.
Wearing costumes of charm
strutting their stuff
dogs of today let out of the barn.
I want to dress my dog in blue
a sailor suit with a little cap
yes, that's what I will do.
Magnificent doggie never pound bound
she holds her head high
with a rhinestone crown.
Such a musician is she
future violin lessons
up her sleeve.
This former shelter dog
ain't no ordinary girl
pink tutu and a schedule to log.
When I sleep at night
I am mesmerized
in her own jet this girlie takes flight.
A second job to dress her right
who knows where she's going
with her goals to ignite.
Its not too much to ask for
a few outfits to dance in
on the night scenes main floor.
Yes dancing all night
that's what pink tutus are for
gotta dress this girl right.
It's hard to explain
a dress code for this diva
and what a dog might proclaim.
You might think it fantasy
this canines wishes
I guess it's something you'd have to see.
So if I want to dress my doggie
in pink tutu
or for scuba diving.
'Tis not my fault - I'm giving in
to a canines longings
and dreams to be lived.

Shelter Dogs and Cats
Have you ever adopted a shelter dog or cat?
Fetching blurbs now... please stand byYES! My experience was....
Marijoyce says:
Absolutely!!! My last two dogs came from the shelter and any of my pets forevermore will come from there. Of course, there are at times some surprises. When we adopted Max he was supposed to be a big German Shepherd, when I wanted a little dog, and he ended up mixed breed and 60 pounds. Then a I adopted a "small Char Pei" who was supposed to reach about 40 pounds. Only she turned out to be a lab mix and by 6 months old weighed 95 pounds, but they are both incredibly marvelous dogs who have turned out to be two wonderful blessings in our lives. They are both happy, loving, playful and just real joys.

Adopt a Shelter Dog and Save a Life
by Cindy Rupp
There are some great benefits of adopting a shelter dog. First of all, you will save an incredible amount of money. You can easily pick up a wonderful, fully house trained and well-behaved adult dog from a shelter for a very small amount of money. Often the shelters will only require that you pay for any vaccinations that the dog may need as well as for the cost of having the dog micro-chipped for his safety and your peace of mind. Secondly, puppies require a whole lot of time and hard work. They must be constantly monitored, house trained and taught to walk on a leash, just to name a few of the responsibilities that raising a puppy entails. Raising a puppy often requires that you stay at home with the dog during the first few months of its life. If you do not have the time nor the desire to give your puppy the best possible up-bringing, then perhaps you should consider adopting a full grown dog that is already trained and that is used to living with a family such as yours.
Sadly, most adult dogs who are residing at shelters are only given a couple weeks, at best, before they are put to sleep. This is due to the fact that most shelters simply do not have the room nor the money to house more than a few dozen adult dogs at a time. Dog shelters get the majority of their funding from contributions and the staff often consists of volunteers who donate their time to take care of the dogs and the facility. Time is simply running out for tens of thousands of dogs all across America. It is heartbreaking to know that there are so many deserving dogs sitting in shelters that only deserve a second chance at life. Most of these dogs are sweet, loving, great with children and other pets, but they simply fell victim to circumstances far beyond their control.
Please take the time to travel to your nearest dog shelter and take a look at the adult dogs that are up for adoption. Talk to the staff there and ask about any dog that you are interested in. Shelter workers make it their business to find out as much as possible about the dogs they are housing. They speak to the previous owners (when possible) to find out what type of life the dog had before coming to the shelter and often assessments are made by the staff concerning how the dog socializes, walks on a leash and responds to commands.
Taking the time to visit your local shelter may very well result in you falling in love with a dog with whom you can offer a second chance in life. The dogs are waiting for someone just like you, so please do consider adopting a shelter dog as your next family pet.

The ART of the DOG
Basic Dog Obedience Training - How to Teach Your Dog the Most Basic of All Commands
by Richard Onebamoi
Some new dog owners get a little overwhelmed with their dog behaviors to say the least. Consequently dog obedience training is important way to not only keep your house from attack, but to establish a comfortable and trusting relationship with your dog. This is a way to teach your dog to exhibit certain behavior in every circumstance. In this article i am going to outlines 5 steps that you can use to begin your basic dog obedience training program that will show you how to teach your dog the most basic of all commands. Each step is listed and discussed below so that you can start benefiting straight away.
Here are some basic commands
sit: the dog is in a sitting position.
down: a dog is typically down when its elbows (front feet) and ear legs are touching the ground or floor.
heel: the dog's head or shoulder is parallel to the handler's leg on the left side of the trainer.
come or here: (referred to as the recall) "call your dog" equals "come" or "here".
stay: the dog must remain in the position (sit, down, stand) and location under which the command was given until it is released by the trainer.
let's list and describe the how-to steps involved when you want to begin your basic dog obedience training program.
step #1: reward obedience
this initial step we use reward to teach our dogs the most basic of all command. This is the simple strategy of rewarding obedience and punishment of disobedience. This simply means that we reward our dogs when something desirable is done and achieved and punishment if a dog does something bad appropriately. This technique has proved to work tremendously.
step #2: using a dog leash
the 2nd step in the process is to use of leash to get your dog to obey your basic command such as sit or stand. Using leash to training your dog to obey basic command and instructions is essential so that you can control your dog in public places for instance. Hence learning how to use a leash to help you in your dog obedience training is very important and it is recommended by every dog trainer i've ever met and worked with.
step #3: use firm voice
the third step is the use of a firm voice. You have to be firm in your voice as you give your command or instruction to your dog during the process of your dog obedience training program. However, you must understand that there is a difference between firm and aggressive voice.
step #4: get the dog's attention
at this step in the process you need to get your dog's attention because if your dog's attention is not on you, it will not be able to respond to your command and instructions. Most of your dog obedience training will be getting his or hers attention and keeping it on yourself. If your dog cannot give you the attention, it will not listen to you, and thus making the training pointless. First, get the dog's attention, most dogs will respond to their name, so call them and when they look at you give the instruction and watch. After doing it few times the dog will associate the command or instruction with looking at you.
step #5: you must be consistent
the final step is that you must be consistent in your training so that you do not confuse your dog. In order to get the respect of your dog you must be consistent and avoid haphazard dog training. The key to keep you consistent is to establish a set of dos and don'ts for your dog.
As you can see when you follow the above steps you will be in a splendid position to achieve more benefits whenever you decide to begin your basic dog obedience training program.
