Know someone that loves their dog? Send them a dog gift basket!

We all know a special dog or a friend or loved one that cherishes their pet. So the next time their is a special event for their pet surprise them with a dog gift basket! There doesn't have to be an occasion, just to let them know that you cherish the idea of pets as well. Maybe you have pets or wish you could... so go ahead live vicariously through the dog owner.Besides the "just because" there are several occasions that are perfect for dog gift baskets, a welcome to the neighborhood "we love dogs too" or congratulations on the new puppies, a get well dog gift basket, celebrating a pets birthday, yes that is right why not?Like the friends and loved ones in our lives that we express our gratitude why not extend that same gratitude to our dogs or a friends dog? After all where else will you find such level of dedication and unconditional love?

The 'age old' question of 'what to get the person who has everything!? Think outside of them personally; think perhaps of their home, activities or better yet do they have a dog by chance? If they are a dog person, most all of these types of individuals love their pets and do everything to make them comfortable and happy. So if the dog is happy, the owner is happy.

Here's a suggestion to make the dog owner, and his or her dog, happy. Send them a doggy gift basket. They can be sent for a number of reasons. A doggy gift basket could be a nice gesture when they first adopt a pet, or possibly when the dog has surgery or when they graduate from obedience class.

There are many types of dog gift baskets, including items that could fit any occasion. Whether it's a Happy Birthday dog gift basket that includes a pooch party cake, freeze dried ice cream, treats, cookies and biscuits. This basket even includes a birthday balloon and many other goodies. Another consideration could be the Waggy Tails dog gift tower. This can work as a birthday basket, get well or congratulations and includes biscuits, treats and three reusable boxes for future treats.

Maybe your friend and their canine companion just won a competition in a show or during obedience training. This would be the perfect opportunity to send a Top Dog gift basket. This basket is overflowing with several pounds of gourmet biscuits and treats that the winner will simply love, and is sure to have his tail wagging. The Man and His Best Friend basket is designed with treats for the dog as well as gifts for the owner. Like two gifts in one! You have a way to congratulate them both for all of their hard work and it's sure to be appreciated by both.

If your friend or their pet is just having a rough time, you can send one of these unique and thoughtful gift baskets as a gesture to let them know you are thinking of them and your care. Treating them to something special will certainly cheer them up. The look on a dogs face when they are happy is just priceless, with the tail going full speed and the excitement in their gestures it's a sure fire way to brighten even a heavy heart.

After any bad day we like nothing more than to some home to the unconditional love, wet nose and non judging best friend we have waiting for us at the door. Your dog isn't upset if you don't get the promotion or raise, or if you got a speeding ticket, forgot the dry cleaning, or you had to fire someone at work. They just want your love and attention. Any pet owner and their dog would love the gesture of a gourmet dog gift basket any time. So why not treat them just to show them how much your care.

All About Dogs!

The dog (recently reclassified from Canis familiaris to Canis lupus familiaris, see below for details ) is a domesticated form of the Gray Wolf, a member of the Canidae family of the order Carnivora. The term is used for both feral and pet varieties. The domestic dog has been one of the most widely kept working and companion animals in human history. Amongst canine enthusiasts, the word "dog" may also mean the male of a canine species, as opposed to the word "bitch" (the female of the species).

The dog quickly became ubiquitous across culture in all parts of the world, and was extremely valuable to early human settlements. For instance, it is believed that the successful emigration across the Bering Strait might not have been possible without sled dogs. Dogs perform many roles for people, such as hunting, herding, protection, companionship, and, more recently, assisting handicapped individuals. Currently, there are estimated to be 400 million dogs in the world.

Over the 15,000 year span that the dog had been domesticated, it diverged into only a handful of landraces, groups of similar animals whose morphology and behavior have been shaped by environmental factors and functional roles. As the modern understanding of genetics developed, humans began to intentionally breed dogs for a wide range of specific traits. Through this process, the dog has developed into hundreds of varied breeds, and shows more behavioral and morphological variation than any other land mammal. For example, height measured to the withers ranges from a few inches in the Chihuahua to a few feet in the Irish Wolfhound; color varies from white through grays (usually called "blue'") to black, and browns from light (tan) to dark ("red" or "chocolate") in a wide variation of patterns; coats can be short or long, coarse-haired to wool-like, straight, curly, or smooth. The Complete dog book: the photograph, history, and official standard of every breed admitted to AKC registration, and the selection, training, breeding, care, and feeding of pure-bred dogs. New York: Howell Book House, 1992. ISBN 0876054645 It is common for most breeds to shed this coat, but non-shedding breeds are also popular.

Dog Training Tips

Puppy = Patience
It's no secret that in this day and age our lives are hectic and busy - but too busy to take time for our family pet? The one that is happy to see us each time we walk through the door? How can that be? If you have taken on the responsibility of pet ownership - then you have to realize that you do have responsibilities to your pet.
Like children, they need boundaries and guidance. They need to be told no and they need praise when they carry out a desired behaviour. Destructive dogs could easily be animals that suffer from separation anxiety. This is not about getting 'revenge' it's about them being very sociable animals and being left alone or ignored causes them and great deal of stress.
The boundaries and guidance are not that complicated and can make the owners life much easier in the long run. I may not be an 'expert' but after reading countless articles and books it all boils down to common sense. I have used these simple guidelines with my own dog and it was quite successful.
To train your dog to do his or her 'business' outside takes some time. Staying one step ahead of accidents will save you some grief and aggravation. They will need to go out first thing in the morning, after meals ( usually about an hour after but that will vary from dog to dog), after naps , after being left alone for periods of time and just before going to bed. Simple isn't it? Designate and area outside for their business and encourage them to go there - praise them when they do as well. Not necessarily with a treat, but it seems that they learn the words "good dog" very quickly and like to hear it.
The other word they learn quickly is NO. A loud NO should be all you need to express that the behaviour was not desirable. You should never have to resort to harsh punishment ever as this does not help the process to train them into good habits at all. To continue to punish, yell, hit or scold after the behaviour has stopped will confuse the pet. They will grow to be afraid of you!
Give them some barriers. Crate training can be a good idea however throwing them in a crate for long periods of time right out of the starting gate would be a mistake. They need to grow used to the crate, not as a place for punishment but a safe place. Leave it open to them, put in a blanket or towel with their scent on it. Maybe give them some food or treats in there to make it 'inviting' and not something they are afraid of.
Outside we have an area for her 'business' but then during nice weather when we are outside or our windows are open we have a dog house for her to enjoy the breeze, keep shaded and have her safe haven outside as well. Inside if we are home we have her bed or a blanket. The blanket is HER place. When we travel to friends at all we can take the blanket, put it down and she knows that's her place as well. They like to be around people, they like to behave in a way that makes their owners happy and their needs are relatively simple. A little bit of patience, a lot of love and some guidance and your dog will be a wonderful friend and loving companion. I wish I could offer the same simple advice on some simple ways to raise teenagers... but there is nothing simple about that!
