The Puppia Harness - my absolute favorite!

Harnesses are an important item for us pups. And it's not easy to find one that fits well, doesn't restrict your movement, and doesn't have nasty buckles to rub your shoulders.

But that's just what we found with our new Puppia Harness.

We were so excited to find these we just had to tell ya about them.

Why is a harness better than a collar?

And what should you consider when selecting one.

A harness is becoming much more widely used (over a collar) as an alternative for leash attachment. A collar only encircles the neck, whereas a harness has a loop that surrounds the torso as well, with connecting straps between them for reinforcement.

This design allows for distribution of force which may prevent choking, neck injury, improve posture while exercising (which prevents injury) and a pup has a much lower chance of slipping out than may be possible with only a collar.

Harness usage is growing in popularity among many pet owners - especially for those with smaller breed dogs.

When selecting a harness it's very important to evaluate how your dog moves in the harness - is their movement restricted, does the harness rub on their legs or shoulders or chest, is it comfortable, and are they moving, walking, and trotting properly in the harness?

All of these considerations are important to the long term health and fitness of your dog!

Those look comfy, but I am big and I also need a front lead style harness. Sigh.

If you're looking for harnesses in the same design as this, you should look at Mutt Gear by Doggles, Doggie Design EZ-Walk Harness (it's made of wide mesh netting and has aloha hawaiian flowers on the edges),and the UK brand, "Poochi". They all make soft harnesses for larger dogs.

I have a chow golden retriever mix who's 45 lbs., 26.5 inch girth and 17 inch neck.. yours sounds a little bigger but you might want to try the Puppia XL on him as it fits my dog pretty well.

I understand Christine, lots of my buds have the same problem. I do have a friend that makes collars for larger dogs, not sure if she makes harnesses, but...if you see this here is her website address: http://www.sewcrazydoglady.com/ May be worth contacting her. Thanks for stopping by! Woofs, Johann

I wish Puppia (or someone) would make a similar mesh harness for large dogs! I have one for my Pekingese mix, but I also have a lab mix (50 pounds), a golden retriever (90 pounds), and a black Lab--who weighs in at 100 pounds. I would love to have a comfortable harness for them, too.
