Easy To Follow Doghouse Plans

When you decide to build a doghouse for your dog, you want it to be the very best home for him. You will want to use quality materials. Also, they have to be safe for your dog...you wouldn't want pressure treated wood, especially if your dog is a chewer. Using composite building material or a type of wood like cedar that doesn't tend to rot, would be the best option.

You will have to make sure your dog has an adequate amount of shade and that the doghouse has some type of cross ventilation for the hot summer months. For the cold winter months you will need to make sure your dog has access to a warm area to lie down. You will have to decide whether or not to put in carpet,or line the floor with straw or a blanket. to make it more comfortable and warmer. The Color of the doghouse of course doesn't matter to your dog but, you will want it to compliment your yard and outbuildings.

Besides the temperature and the overall comfort of your dog there are a couple of other details you will need to address before using your Doghouse Plans

1) If you are planning to keep your dog on a 'run' of some sort, Decide where if on the doghouse you will attach it. Your dog house should be placed in such a way that the 'run' won't get caught or hung up on anything like a tree.

2) You could also just put you new doghouse inside a fenced kennel, that would take care of any "run" issue. I live in an area where we can just let our dog go free without being tethered, but not everyone can do this.

3) Consider the size of your dog and how big the doghouse should be for the best fit. You want it big enough for your dog to fit in comfortably but, you don't want it so big that your dog's body heat escapes during cooler weather.

Building your own doghouse will not only give you a house to your specifications, it will also be a more sturdy building. Following good doghouse plans, and taking care to include all the special design elements you want to add, will give your dog a home to be protected and content in.
