Dog Person or Cat Person?
I am a dog person, but do understand cat people, for the most part. I did have a cat for 19 years, but now am sticking to dogs.
Now my next door neighbor takes being a cat person to the next level. They had 32 cats last time I asked. I decided to stop asking. They are registered as a rescue, so they are doing great things for cats. They are always trying to give me one or two. For now I will stick with dogs.
Big dogs, little dogs all dogs work for me. I even worked in a veterinarian's office for a while, and every dog that came in made me smile. I only have two now and that is enough, with a small child in the house. I did have four at one time. They all wanted to sleep in my bed. My husband wanted to be in bed too, so we had to find good homes for two of them. I tried to find a good home for my husband but no one would take him. I guess I am stuck with him and two dogs instead of four. Maybe someday he will move over and let more dogs in bed with us.
Do You dress them up?
Does anyone have fun dressing their pet up? I think dogs love to look like a prince or princess and like to dress up just like a child would. Cats I am not sure about. I was never able to put even a collar on my cat. Cats are independent and dog like to please, both are good qualities. It just depends on what you want in a pet.My mom loves to dress her dog up. She will put a raincoat and boots on her dog and then take her for a walk in the rain. Her neighbors all laugh at her and find it silly, but it is fun for both of them.
Playing in the rain can be fun for all.

Vote are you a cat or dog person?
The world would like to know, or maybe just me!
Dog Person When.....
You have a kiddie wading pool in the yard, but no small children.Lintwheels are on your shopping list every week.
You have baby gates permanently installed at strategic places around the house, but no babies.
The trash basket is more or less permanently installed in the kitchen sink, to keep the dog out of it while you're at work.
You can't see out the passenger side of the windshield because there are nose-prints all over the inside.
Poop has become a source of conversation for you and your significant other.
You refer to yourselves as Mommy and Daddy.
Your dog sleeps with you.
You have 32 different names for your dog. Most make no sense, but she understands.
You have little songs that you sing to your dog, and she always wags when you sing, even though you can't carry a tune.
Your dog eats cat poop, but you still let her kiss you (but not immediately afterward, of course).
You like people who like your dog. You despise people who don't.
You carry dog biscuits in your purse or pocket at all times.
You talk about your dog the way other people talk about their kid.
You sign and send birthday/anniversary/Christmas cards from your dog.
You put an extra blanket on the bed so your dog can be comfortable.
You'd rather stay home on Saturday night and cuddle your dog than go to the movies with your sweetie.
You go to the pet supply store every Saturday because it's one of the very few places that lets you bring your dog inside, and your dog loves to go with you.
You open your purse, and that big bunch of baggies you use for pick-ups pops out.
You get an extra-long hose on your shower-massage just so you can use it to wash your dog in the tub, without making the dog sit hip-deep in water.
You don't think it's the least bit strange to stand in the back yard chirping "Meg, pee!" over and over again, while Meg tends to play and forget what she's out there for (but what your neighbors think of your behavior is yet another story).
You and the dog come down with something like flu on the same day. Your dog sees the vet while you settle for an over-the-counter remedy from the drugstore.
Your dog is getting old and arthritic, so you go buy lumber and build her a small staircase so she can climb onto the bed by herself.
Your license plate or license plate frame mentions your dog.
You match your furniture/carpet/clothes to your dog.
You have your dog's picture on your office desk.
You are a Cat person When......
You know you're a cat person when......you refer to going to the bathroom as "using the litter box."
...you do not consider an outfit complete without some cat hair.
...you consider cat hair in your food as extra fiber.
...you apologize when you step on a fuzzy cat toy in the dark.
...you snap your fingers and pat the sofa beside you to invite your guests to sit down.
...you sleep on one edge of the bed because the cat is sleeping in the middle looking soooo cute!
...you accidentally put your child's dinner plate on the floor.
...you spend more money on toys for your cats than on the kids or grandkids.
...you decorate your Christmas tree with dangly cat toys.
...your neighbors refer to you as "the crazy one with all the cats."
...you have more pictures of your cats than your kids in your wallet.
...you refer to your cat as your furry child.
...your parents wind up with a four-footed, furry "grandchild."
...you plan your vacation around the cat show schedule.
...you accidentally call your spouse by your cat's name!
...you set a place at the dinner table for your cat.
...you have a set of towels with "His" "Hers" and "Kitty's."
...you call home and leave a message on the answering machine for your cat.
...you have the cat meow on the outgoing message of the answering machine.
...you and kitty have matching outfits.
...your spouse says, "Me or the cat!," and there's no hesitation.
...you never go to the door unless it's to let a cat out.
...your favorite friends have fleas.
...you chose a house to buy based on it having a good location for the cat box.
...you think cat fur makes a wonderful garnish to any meal.
...you own 17 varieties of kitty-nail-clippers.
...you are lost for conversation with non-cat people.
...you meow so well, you confuse the cats.
...you bore the neighbors with discussions on the exact nutritional differences between 9-Lives and Amore ... at length.

Hi everyone....I ran a group of 50 volunteers for a large Not-For-Profit Animal Rescue organization in NY and served as a board member as well. I did this for 10 years as far as volunteering my time and it was worth every minute of it. Now although I am left with my 3 legged Dog and my kitty who is off of Cancer treatments and in remission, I must say I love both as I have had my 4 cats and my dog Sugar live well alongside each other.
