Dogs Arthritis Treatment - What You need to know

We are going to discuss dogs arthritis treatment. When dogs age they may get arthritis just like people do. Unfortunately your dogs can't tell you when they are suffering the pain of arthritis. You have to be observant and be able to tell when your dog is in pain.

Dogs are tough, tougher than you may think and they have a high pain tolerance so when they are actually showing pain it is probably really hurting them.

If your dog has difficulty climbing stairs jumping on the bed or going for long walks, you need to consider your dogs arthritis treatment. Approximately 25-30% of family pets suffer from dog arthritis, and or osteoarthritis. Most vets will call this DJD or degenerative joint disease.

If you suspect that your dog is suffering from arthritis there is dogs arthritis treatment medicine out there that you can get without a prescription that is safe and effective. I use FlexPet on my Arthritic dog and it works great for her!

Dogs Arthritis Treatment Pro's And Con's

Arthritis is the breakdown of the lining of the joints causing bone to rub on bone. When you suspect that your dog has arthritis you should take him or her to the vet as soon as possible. Your vet will do tests to determine that arthritis is the problem and will then prescribe your dogs arthritis treatment. Most likely this will be a prescription in pill form.

I like the natural approach when I have to medicate my pets. I believe that chemicals bring down the immune system which leaves them open to many more problems. I use FlexPet as my dogs arthritis treatment and it works really well. It is an all natural medication. It can be used on cats and even horses! This is a picture of my Golden Retriever Sadie. She takes it and she doesn't hesitate to go up the stairs anymore.

I try to keep my dogs as healthy as I can and I believe that the chemicals from medicines, vaccines and preservatives in dog foods contribute to a lot of the health problems in pets so I tend to lean more towards the natural remedies whenever possible.

Surgery As An Option For Your Dogs Arthritis Treatment

If your vet is leaning towards surgery as your dogs arthritis treatment I would think long and hard before going this route. I feel this option should be used when nothing else works for your dogs arthritis pain. I just don't think a dog should be put through the pain and stress of a surgery unless absolutely 100% necessary. That is the same way I think about myself. I wouldn't get a surgery on myself unless it was 100% necessary and I give my pet's the same consideration.

Surgery can be a really expensive option for your dogs arthritis treatment and probably not necessary. Surgery puts a whole lot of stress on your pets body and immune system. A dog has the mind of a 3 year old child and when you leave them in the vet's office in unfamiliar surroundings it has to be a terrible stress to the dog and then when you get them home it will still be very stressful dealing with the surgical pain. It will probably be stressful on you too since you may have to carry the dog outside to potty and then carry him back in. This could get quite messy in the rain or snow. If the dog is big like my dog this can be very difficult. She weighs 100 pounds. She's a little overweight. I am a big guy but it would be hard for me to carry her in and out. It is a lot harder to carry a 100 pound living being without hurting them or yourself than it is to carry something like a 100 pound bag of cement or sand!

So with that said do yourself and your dog a favor try all other options as your dogs arthritis treatment before you jump on surgery! Try FlexPet and or some of the other natural treatments out there for dog arthritis first. If they don't work then try the prescription medication and then only if that doesn't work look into surgery! Doing it this way could save you a lot of money in the long run if medication works and it will be a lot less stressful for your dog.

Some Final Thoughts About Your Dogs Arthritis Treatment

Well as some final thoughts on your dogs arthritis treatment one thing I can recommend is that if your dog is overweight get him or her on a diet. Unnecessary weight is undue stress on the joints. I can almost guarantee that your vet will recommend weight loss even though you don't think your pet is overweight.

My dog in the picture above should lose about 30 pounds. That would really help her out a lot. I have 2 kids in the house under 3 so she seems to get a lot of un-needed snacks.

As your dogs arthritis treatment I recommend you try FlexPet before you try prescription medications or surgery. Do yourself and your dog a favor, click the link and do a little research on FlexPet. It may just be the cheapest and the best option for your dogs arthritis treatment.
