i'm neutral, i like both. cats are easygoing, cuddly, quiet, and lovable. and dogs are energetic, fun, and easy to get along with. i like both, but i lean twoards dogs because there's more you can do with them, and they're just sooo... FUN.

ahhhhh, DAAAAAHHH dogs are so much better. Look at all the things dogs do for us. I was just watching the news and they had a story of 2 pups that saved a kid's life by snugling and keeping him warm (it is freezing cold here). He would have freezed to death. Plus you don't see drug cats or SAR (search and rescue) cats. I don't know maybe it is just me but I would have a dog over a cat any day

When we go to see him he is always waiting at the door to greet us. He is a beagle. He is 3 years old. If I came home and he wasn't waiting at the door for me I would be sooooooooooo surprised. I love both, but cats purr and are so much softer. They don't lick in a disgusting manner to show their enthusiasm for the attention but purr in a very relaxing manner. Petting a dog is nice but petting a cat is devine, especially petting my cat who wiggles in an adorable manner when she is in cuddle mode.

Cats tend to be loyal, friendly, loving, and relatively independent. Both have personality... I just don't get why people think they have to choose based upon prejudices.

For a person who has relatively little time, little space, and few non-job commitments, a cat would be a better choice, since they get along better without too much attention or maneuvering room. On the other hand, a dog is great with kids and space--much better than a cat, if you feel you have to choose, and you meet those requirements (which I don't). Putting a dog in an apartment (or even inside a house) for at least nine unattended hours per day would be cruelty, though.

Basically, prejudices aside, it really depends on one's lifestyle. Ideally, I'd have two of each!

When I was a boy, I remeber my dog chasing the family cat towards a moving car. The cat ran under and out the other side of the car and made a clean escape. Ol' Sport skidded to a stop. That day the cat ruled.

Today Max the cat lives here. Other cats here hide when strange dogs appear, but Max hunches his back if he is surprised by a new dog. After a few minutes he settles down and just looks from a perch at the mutt. Dogs don't rule Max. He stands his ground.

Cats have a MUCH wider range of personalities then dogs. They can be everything from lazy or evil to extremley playfull or kindly. A good and entertaining cat beats a dog anyday of the week. Less work and just as much fun and makes a equally good company.

My faimly has owned a variety of cats and dogs. All my dogs have been noisy and stupid. My cats on the other hand have been perfect pets (save for one evil evil cat, so evil he was funny). They have been quiet, unbealeavibly friendly, and one was just as playfull if not more so then a dog. He played fetch, walked with me (no leash needed), and actually went swimming with us on more then one occasion.

Anyone who votes dogs haven't chilled with a cool cat or just dunno what their talking about. My friends ALWAYS complain about their dogs.

I always had Dogs and "hated" cats, but, that's only because I DIDN'T Know Them.

I had a GF once that had cats and when I finally got to living with her (and them) I found out I was, ahem, prejudiced, ONLY because I had no idea of their qualities!

They're lovable, clean, SMART, aloof and snuggly.

That said I still love Dogs but now Cats are also in the mix.

I presently have 1 dog and 3 cats and they all get along quite well.

So as you can see ... I love them BOTH and can't really choose one or another.

My heart and love is BIG enough for BOTH!

I have had some fantastic Labrador dogs over the years, but now that I live right in the city and only have a patio so it would be unfair to have another dog. My cat means a great deal to me. Had to play God with one a few months back which always hurts. It's really tough to make that decision.
I've posted a pic of my cat on Facebook. This was when she was less than a year old. She always had a tendancy to run up the curtains, so since I have moved it's blinds - not curtains!

If you're a homebody than there's nothing like a cat. If you're outdoors and on the move there's nothing like a dog.

The only outdoor-on-the-move exception that I've experienced is cats make great sailing companions. I've seen cats sail from Vancouver to Suva, Fiji. Well, their owners were on the tiller, they were the 'little chief ballast and rodent control mate' It's pretty even steven with me.
