What is dog tear stain?
It is tear stains or eye stain that are reddish brown in color that you may see around your dog's eyes and sometimes down the sides of their face.
Dog tear stain is awful and it is ugly. It also will often have a foul odor.

Does Dog Tear Stain mean something is Seriously Wrong with Your Dog?
When I first saw the dog tear stain on my puppy I thought it might be due to the fact that my puppy was teething.
But after the teething was over the eye stain continued and it seemed to just get worse.
I checked with my veterinarian and he explained to me that the Maltese breed of dog along with many other breeds of dogs and cats were very susceptible to getting tear staining problems.
The great thing was that there was nothing seriously wrong with my darling puppy.
In fact my precious little dog was in excellent health except for the dog tear stain that marred his little face.

Why might your dog get Dog Tear Stain?
I learned from my vet that quite a few different dog breeds have trouble with dog tear stain.
Usually it is because your dog may have a facial bone structure or predominantly large eyes that bring about excess tearing.
The anatomy of many dog breeds is simply more conducive to excess tearing.
It is just a fact of life for many breeds and according to my vet it is nothing to be alarmed about.
