The Basics of Dog Obedience Training
Dog obedience training does not need to be something to send chills down the spine. It can be quite enjoyable to do, and rewarding for you and your pet. The biggest problem people face with dog obedience training is not knowing how to do it effectively.
Dogs Obedience Training
For many, the thought of dog obedience training conjures images of frustration, aggravation, and worst of all, little or no results.
But it doesn't have to be this way.
If you're having problems with your methods of dog obedience training, I feel your pain. Literally and figuratively. The good news is, there is a better way, a way that will not only help you and your dog bond, but offers step by step instructions aimed at the "regular Joe" who is not a professional dog trainer but wants a well behaved pet.

You see, I was in the same boat not too long ago with my dog, Gracie. She is a German Shepherd and weighs in at 85 pounds. Did I mention she's not even a year old? This is the definition of "handful". I love her to death but trying to get her to heed my commands was an exercise in futility.
Then I discovered SitStayFetch. I know that saying something changed my life is one of the most overused cliches, but in this case it's true. Gone are the days of Gracie running amok, not listening, jumping up on people (including my 2 year old son).
To say that she is well behaved is an understatement. I can now take her with me to the park without a leash, to pet stores, and anywhere else I go with no worries.

One thing that you'll find in dog obedience training is that you are both being trained. I had to learn the right way to communicate with my dog to get her to understand what I wanted her to do. Now that I know how to speak to her, she is more than happy to oblige.

The Key to Dog Obedience Training
Here's the thing that you have to remember about our four legged friends: their number one desire is to please us, and they'll do whatever it takes to make that happen. All they want is our approval and affection. The problems start when people don't know how to effectively communicate with their pets and end up scolding or ignoring their dogs. Now here's the rub: Scolding and ignoring your dog will only lead to more unwanted behavior, because your dog will think that misbehaving is the best way to get your attention. It then becomes a vicious cycle, perpetuating itself until you're ready to pull your hair out.
