As well as unconditional love, dogs bring a lot of joy and an extra sense that we as humans may not have, I can always tell by my dogs behaviour when I meet someone new, and generally my dog is right, they have senses about people and situations that we don't pick up on

my dogs have taught me that there IS such a thing as unconditional love when language doesn't come in to confuse the matter.
  • JoyfulReviewer Oct 2, 2011 @ 3:43 pm | delete
When I've observed dogs and their owners, I'm intrigued by how happy they are and how eager they are to please their owners. Also, they're totally loyal and have unconditional love.
  • GypsyPirate Sep 29, 2011 @ 12:08 pm | delete
Loyalty and unquestioning adoration. A lot of people could learn some things if they would only pay attention. But, as is usually the case, the ones that need to learn the most pay the least attention.

My dogs teach me patience. Just how many times do I have to wash them when they have jumped into our muddy pond! their little faces just make me laugh, which is just as well as when I see the state of them, my first reaction is to kill the pair of them!
  • AngelDey Aug 18, 2011 @ 9:46 pm | delete
I have two dogs in the house and they are an absolute joy. They have their own personalities just as people do but they love unconditionally (though they will do tricks for treats).
  • WeatherWoman1285 Jul 13, 2011 @ 9:58 am | delete
I currently have 4 dogs in the house, two of my own and two that are my brothers (the parents of my two dogs) that I am pet sitting for a while. My youngest is still just a puppy of four and a half months old. She will be large but right now is in the lower 30 pound range. She thinks she's a lap dog, she will jump up on my lap and then sit on my chest, her older brother (biologically, and my other dog) does the same sort of thing. He's 16 months old and 81 pounds and will back up to the couch and and sit down on the edge. Their names are Zenith, the older one, and Rayne, the baby. I also enjoy that Rayne is still so dependant on me right now, if any one of the other dogs start barking, she immediatly runs to me for protection. I love my dogs so much.
