Do I need a website for my business?

This has always been a burning question for business owners that does not have a business presence on the web, and no doubt their biggest fear is that a website is going to cost a fortune. But nothing could be further from the truth.

In a nut shell we believe that every business needs a website, mainly because it is one of the most cost effective marketing tools available to any business, and every business owner is always looking for ways to save money, and increase profits.

A website is nothing more than another media for acquiring more customers, and selling more products to existing customers. The internet, like TV, radio, direct mail, fax, and voicemail broadcasts are all used to acquire and communicate with customers, but with the internet it is done at a fraction of the cost of other media outlets.

The Different Types of Website

Single Page Website - It is extremely simple and inexpensive. At a bare minimum, include hours, directions, and contact information.

Company Brochure Website - This type of site should include about us, contact information, products and services, and general information. Keep it simple.

Online Marketing Website - This website is an integral part of a marketing campaign. Provide special offers, e-Books, and useful tools that can bring people back. An double opt-in email newsletter is a must and can become a major producer of traffic. You must keep this type of site fresh, so frequent content changes will be required.

Customer Service Website - Useful information for users is king and will keep traffic flowing to your site. Adding a Help Desk application can save a great deal of time and money by publishing information on a website rather than fielding phone calls. (CMS Software)

Community Website - A community website is built around the concept of belonging. You may want to have a news section, an online calendar, photos from past events, private member areas, blog, chat and discussion boards.

ECommerce Website - A shopping cart script is needed and should have features such as inventory control, multiple shipping options, multiple payment options, secure payments, shipment tracking. There are a large number of shopping carts so one can be found for almost any business model.

Sales Letter Site - this is a one page, that highlights the benefits of one product or service. It can be highly effective when used with a double opt-in email marketing campaign. This site is designed to do one thing to get the sale.

Blog - This is a journal like site that keeps everyone up-to-date with what is happening within your business. It provides a quick easy way to provide content as well as keep in touch with your prospects and customers. Blogs can be hosted on your site or you can opt to use any one of the blog hosting services.

The Power of Squidoo

Web 2.0 at work ...

On May 30th I created a Lens for the ebook Craigslist Exposed and by June 2nd Google had picked up the Lens and now is rated number 1 for the keyword craigslistexposed and for the keyword craigslist exposed the Lens is number 7 but the Sales Page Domain is now number 3 out of 476,000 ... the power of Squidoo at it's finest. Not bad for a site that has only been used for a little over 2 weeks now.
