Tough times in our Economy and what you can do for your family?

There are some easy ways to make money from inside your home.

People all across the world are feeling the pinch of the economy. Some are losing their jobs, some are having to take less money to still work, and some have lost big in their Mortgages, 401k programs and in the Markets that they require for their daily lives. There is hope and things will turn around. To get through these tough times, many people have looked through their homes for things that are collecting dust in attics and garages and listing them on eBay.

Antiques have always been a big thing to sell and there are tons of these out there that have been passed on from one generation to the next. Some of these things are special to your family and should remain with your family. But many items that are not special can make you some added money to help in times like this.

Collectibles, games, toys, old electronics and other things sitting around that you think are no longer important to you are always something that others are willing to pay for. To do so and to reap the most for your items, I have provided some basic selling tips for listing on eBay:

1. Check eBay to see if there are other items like what you are planning on selling and see what the prices are currently and look at the completed items on the left side of the page and search there too. This will allow you to benchmark the prices these items are going for.

2. Check into how you will ship the item to your bidder. If it is to heavy, then you will have to have the bidder pick-up the item. The lighter the item, the easier it is to ship and the less expensive to ship to your bidders. Remember to make it convenient for you too. If UPS and FedEx are not easy for you to ship through, then realize that and us the Postal Service or vice versa.

3. Take plenty of pictures of the items from all different angles to allow potential bidders to see the condition and color of the items. The pictures really will handle a lot of questions and will better describe the item then words will.

4. Describe the item to the best of your ability. If there is a story behind the item or a story about how you received the item. If there is a historical story to the item then this can add big dollars to the item as it places the item to a time period and historical significance. If selling something of a specific person, you may want to explain who the person is and give some background to educate your bidders on them.

5. Remember to check your emails for questions. Bidders will have questions about your items and the sooner you are able to reply to the questions, the sooner that bidder will bid. Provide good customer support to your bidders and the price will increase.

These are some tips to assist and I hope it helps some of us through these tough times.

FREE Auctions at www.Wensy.com

This is a great place for all items! Save Money here!

Based out of Mesa, Arizona, Wensy.com is a very nice small free auction website that recently was featured in the magazine Sport Collectors Trading Card Magazine. This article explained the same message that you can find on the Wensy.com website about us page which is:

"We at Wensy.com are committed to give you, our customers a quick & easy Internet buying/ selling experience. Because we have eliminated all the "before and after the sale" fees, your responsibility & time spent dealing with us is greatly reduced. We believe that this approach will attract both buyers & sellers from all over the world, & will allow for a smooth Internet experience. Since there is no listing or final fees, you will only have contact with the buyer, & the buyer will only have contact with you, unless the need arises to contact us."

Looking into this further, registering was really easy and then listing items was simple. Everything currently is free and we started moving many of our items that have been sitting in our eBay store to this site. The traffic to Wensy.com is slow, but I figure I can email my customers and blog about this site to help drive my business to this site and donate to them once the sales start to take place. Most of the upgrades or improvements take place through these donations and really has a community feel to it. I have enjoyed it and will update you on the progress. Please take a look at www.wensy.com and leave us comments on this blog.

eBay Microsoft Cashback Program

Buy things and Save Money!

Wow this holiday season we have been able to save a lot of money through using the Cashback offer that eBay and Microsoft have teamed up on.

This offer is to help drive traffic to the Microsoft search engine, www.live.com and sell items on the internet, like eBay. How this works is easy and something anyone can do.

Here are the steps:
1. Open a Microsoft cashback account from www.live.com in the upper right hand corner of the web page. This is easy and simple.
2. Have a Paypal account in good standing. If not, then register with Paypal.
3. Have an eBay account in good standing. If not, then register with eBay.

Once all of these requirements have been met then you need to follow this procedure to have the cashback work:

1. Go to www.live.com and search for what you are interested in purchasing.
2. Click on the options that have the Gold Coin with the dollar sign on it as these are cashback searches that will allow you to receive the cashback money.
3. The items purchased on eBay need to be Buy It Now and paid for through Paypal.
4. To make sure you the cashback option has not timed out or is still available, there is a cashback logo with the gold coin and the percentage offered as cashback at the top of the page in the center. If this is not there, then you need to restart the process at step one.
5. Once you have purchased and paid for the item through Paypal, the cashback portion will be placed back into your Paypal account once the Paypal is sure the item will not be returned. This can be within an hour of the purchase or two months. You can track this through your cashback account at www.live.com.

Please remember the percentage of the Microsoft Cashback program can change as it is all based on the usage. When less people use it, the percentage goes up. The program will offer up to 30% off at times. As of 12/11/08 it is at 8%.

Please enjoy and look for these great deals.

HammerTap eBay Market Data

Find out what is selling on eBay for Hot prices!

HammerTap eBay Market Research
How To Base Your eBay Success On Solid Research, Not Guesswork

Know if a product will sell and how much profit you'll make on it before you invest a dime.
Arm yourself with the facts. Know the best end day for your auction, the most profitable start price to use and other ways to improve your listings to bolster your bottom line.
When you know which factors increase your chance to sell, you'll sell more often.
By the time a product makes the "hot list", the word's out. Find emerging hot products while profit margins reward you best.
Learn the power keywords and phrases buyers search with, because if they can't find your listings, they can't bid on them.
Gallery pictures and other listing features are supposed to get your listings more attention. For your products, find out if they improve your chance to sell and how much more you'll make.

Know What Products To Sell
Base your decisions on facts. When choosing a lottery number, go ahead and feel free to guess. Just don't run your business that way.

You've got to get the right tools to ensure your success. If you're serious about making more money on eBay, you're going to need to invest in the right tools. You need solid research to consistently base your eBay listings on real-world listing data. Read on to see why HammerTap gives you the "Power to Profit."

Make More On Each Listing
There's no lack of eBay advice out there. Some tell you that to increase the closing bids of your auctions, use a low start price. Others will rant how you'll lose your shirt if you don't start higher. So who's right? They both are. Let me explain.

Every product performs differently at auction. A rule of thumb based in fact for one product may completely capsize your efforts if you use it on another type of product.

Start price is just the beginning. To make the most profit on each listing, you need to know what consistently works.

With HammerTap, you arm yourself with knowledge needed to predict future success based on many past listings.

Better yet, researching products you want to sell online only takes a few minutes with HammerTap. When you base your decisions on real data, you build confidence in your buying and selling choices. Trial and error are a thing of the past.

Sell More Products
To start with, you've got to know which products are selling well on eBay. When Beanie Babies were hot, you could sell every one you could get your hands on. If you were one of the fortunate who got in early enough, you probably made terrific money on them. Those who got in late were left holding the bag. They couldn't unload their inventory for even what they paid for them.

What Factors Make a Product Sell?
Here's just a few of the many factors which can make the difference between a profitable eBay auction and one that just costs you listing fees. In a minute or two you can research how each of these effects your chance to sell and your selling price with HammerTap:

Best day of the week to start & end your auction
The best start price to create a bidding frenzy
Listing features (gallery pictures, bold, etc.)
Keywords that get your auction found
The best category to put your listing in
...and many more

Try HammerTap Free For 10 Days
I could detail every HammerTap feature, but you will never know the power of HammerTap until you take it for a test drive. Before you list one more product, you owe it to yourself to discover this key advantage over your competition.

We'll show you how. As part of your free 10-day trial, you'll get the 10-session training webinar "Ten Ways to Power Up Your Auctions." You'll learn how online auction market research gives you the data to steer clear of products that simply don't sell. You'll learn a step-by-step process to follow to increase your chance to sell and to squeeze every penny of profit from every auction.

You'll learn how to never get burned again by popular eBay myths. We reveal the secrets top eBay Power Sellers use to break away from the pack and make a great living. You'll get insightful articles from industry experts who make enough income to really improve their lives selling on eBay. And for the first 10 days, you'll get it free.

Use HammerTap for 10 days. At the end of that time, if you can even picture listing on eBay without HammerTap, let us know and you won't owe a thing. But we're betting you'll begin to make more on every listing. You'll won't spend a penny on merchandise that eBay market research tells you won't sell. You'll begin to really feel in control of your business.

Let us show you how by taking a simple step. Just click on the link below to learn more.

eBay Wikipedia

eBay Inc. is an American Internet company that manages eBay.com, an online auction and shopping website in which people and businesses buy and sell a broad variety of goods and services worldwide.

The majority of the sales take place through a set-time auction format, but subsequent methods include a substantial segment of listings in the "Buy It Now" category.

In addition to its original U.S. website, eBay has established localized websites in thirty other countries. eBay Inc. also owns PayPal, StubHub, Kijiji, and other businesses.

Paypal Wikipedia

PayPal is an e-commerce business allowing payments and money transfers to be made through the Internet. PayPal serves as an electronic alternative to traditional paper methods such as checks and money orders.

A PayPal account can be funded with an electronic debit from a bank account or by a credit card. The recipient of a PayPal transfer can either request a check from PayPal, establish their own PayPal deposit account or request a transfer to their bank account. PayPal is an example of a payment intermediary service that facilitates worldwide e-commerce.

PayPal performs payment processing for online vendors, auction sites, and other commercial users, for which it charges a fee. It sometimes also charges a transaction fee for receiving money (a percentage of the amount sent plus an additional fixed amount). The fees charged depend on the currency used, the payment option used, the country of the sender, the country of the recipient, the amount sent and the recipient's account type.Paypal.com In addition, eBay purchases made by credit card through PayPal may incur a "foreign transaction fee" if the seller is located in another country, as credit card issuers are automatically informed of the seller's country of origin.

On October 3, 2002, PayPal became a wholly owned subsidiary of eBay. Its corporate headquarters are in San Jose, California, United States at eBay's North First Street satellite office campus. The company also has significant operations in Omaha, Nebraska; Scottsdale, Arizona; and Austin, Texas in the U.S., Chennai, Dublin, Berlin and Tel-Aviv. As of July 2007, across Europe, PayPal also operates as a Luxembourg-based bank.

Half.com Wikipedia

Half.com is a subsidiary of eBay, in which sellers offer items at fixed prices, usually items that have a UPC, ISBN or other kind of SKU, rather than rare, old or collectible items. The items available on half.com are limited to books, textbooks, music, movies, video games, and video game consoles.

There are no fees to list items on Half.com, but rather the company takes a commission of every completed sale. As of January 2009http://pages.half.ebay.com/help/policy/getpaid_p.html captured 2009/01/14, the commission is 15% if the fixed selling price is $50 or less, 12.5% if the price is more than $50 but less than $100.01, 10% if the price is more than $100 but less than $250.01, 7.5% if the price is more than $250 but less than $500.01, and 5% if the price is more than $500.

The seller is responsible for shipping any item within three days of a sale and paying the actual shipping costs. A shipping and handling fee is added to the transaction and is (partially) credited to the seller as a reimbursement. The buyer can choose either USPS Media Mail or expedited delivery. Depending on the weight of the item, the reimbursement amount may often be less than the actual shipping costs. For example, the current shipping reimbursement for any DVD sent USPS Media Mail is $2.39. On the other hand, the reimbursement amount may exceed the actual shipping costs. In this case, many sellers will offer a "free upgrade" to first class shipping, which is not much more expensive than media mail for small items such as CDs.

Half.com was founded in 1999 by American entrepreneur Josh Kopelman (Infonautics, Turntide, Comcast Interactive Capital, First Round Capital) and Sunny Balijepalli (more recently founded cuts.com). As an advertising gimmick, the company paid the town of Halfway, Oregon US$100,000 and donated 20 new computers to change its name to Half.com, Oregon.

eBay purchased Half.com in 2000 for roughly $350 million, integrating its user management system, buyer/seller fee...

Skype Wikipedia

Skype () is a software application that allows users to make voice calls over the Internet. Calls to other users of the service and, in some countries, to free-of-charge numbers, are free, while calls to other landlines and mobile phones can be made for a fee. Additional features include instant messaging, file transfer and video conferencing.

Skype was written by Estonia-based developers Ahti Heinla, Priit Kasesalu and Jaan Tallinn, who had also originally developed Kazaa. The Skype Group, founded by Swedish-born entrepreneur Niklas Zennström and the Dane Janus Friis, has its headquarters in Luxembourg, with offices in London, Tallinn, Tartu, Stockholm, Prague, and San Jose, California.

One of the initial names for the project was "Sky peer-to-peer", which was then abbreviated to "Skyper". However, some of the domain names associated with "Skyper" were already taken. Dropping the final "r" left the current title "Skype", for which domain names were available.

Skype has experienced rapid growth in popular usage since the launch of its services. The company was acquired by eBay in September 2005 for $2.6 billion. eBay has written Skype down to $1.7 billion on its books and announced a public stock offering for 2010 to spin Skype off as a separate company. Some media outlets have characterized the proposed sale and ongoing provision of Skype as being under threat, because of a software licensing dispute with the original creators. On September 1, 2009, a group of investors led by Silver Lake bought 65% of Skype for $1.9 billion. Later this amount was adjusted when eBay and the new investors settled a lawsuit that had been brought by a holding company set up by the original founders. It turned out that the holding company had always owned the underlying peer-to-peer technology. The lawsuit was eventually settled with ownership being divided with the new investors owning 56%, the original founders owning 14% and eBay retaining 30%.
