Doll Collector! For Beginners And Pros!

Doll Collector! For Beginners And Pros! The on-line source for doll collectors.

Everyone remembers their favorite doll. Even little boys had their GI Joes. Dolls have been around forever and collecting them can be both fun and profitable.

As with any collectible, the beginning doll collector must learn about dolls and what makes them valuable. There are thousands of dolls out there that have very little value as a collectible, yet they are being sold at flea markets and auctions for very high prices. Vendors either rely on novice doll collectors to get rid of their junk or they think that if it looks old, it's valuable.

Here at the "Doll Collector", we'll attempt to give you some basic knowledge in what to look for when searching out collectible dolls and how to avoid paying outrageous prices for junk dolls. What brand of doll is collectible and what they are made of.

The Handbook of Doll Repair & Restoration

Amazon Price: $50.20 (as of 05/30/2012)Buy Now

The Handbook of Doll Repair and Restoration was a first when it was published in 1979. It is still a first--in its completeness and detail. This is a responsible book, subscribing to the view of true doll collectors: Do nothing to an antique doll that will compromise the authenticity and reduce its value. Whether a doll is a museum rarity, one of many common antique dolls, or a collectible, Marty Westfall's book will lead you through procedures to restore it. The exquisitely detailed step-by-step directions make it possible for collectors, dealers, even those who own just one or two treasured dolls, to make necessary repairs without reducing value.
