Ask him where he hosts his websites and then ask him to prove it. There are a number of IP lookup and server address applications online now for him to send you a link to proof.

Here's why...first of all some hosting providers pay out top dollars to their affiliates. Your guru or marketer could be making up to $150 to tell you that "this host is the best" - whether they've used that domain host before or not!

Secondly, a number of hosting providers that enter the market scoop up oodles of contracts at top dollar then conveniently disappear with your money too - leaving you and that guru without commission or service.

Finally - and this has happened to me far more often than I choose to share - the price you pay doesn't always reflect in the service you receive.

For instance just this week I had a very important, high traffic domain suspended on me without warning. Oddly enough the domain host I was using was one of the pricier hosts and I'd been with them for over 3 years! They had a scripting error on their server which made it appear that my domain sent out 600 spam messages so they just shut me down. Didn't even send me an email to tell me that they'd done so. Cost me hundreds of dollars and then hours on the phone with them to sort the mess out.

Had this site been hosted on my favorite domain hosting provider i know this wouldn't have happened. How do I know? Because I've been with them for over 5 years. I can chat with them at any time via online chat. They don't put me on hold when I call on the phone. They let me know immediately if there's a problem with one of my websites and the extras they provide with their service are more than I'd ever need.

Not to mention I started with them, with just one domain, at less than $5 month. As my domain portfolio grew, they grew along with me. I still pay them less than $1 month per domain hosting service (a feature of a larger contract - unlimited domain hosting).

You won't see them promoted much because they don't pay out the type of commissions that the gurus get from other domain hosts. They save those deals for their customers (you and I) with more affordable hosting fees and extra service whenever you need it.
