Now, if you type in the same keyword on Google, what shows up first? That's right, its the same article by Travis Sago.

Now, here's where Squidoo comes in.

Squidoo most of the time dominates Ezinearticles in the search engine rankings.

So, when you see an article that is ranked on the first page of Google from Ezinearticles.com, you can try and "beat out the competition" for an equal or higher spot on Google's top 10 listing.

This is a highly effective strategy because you know that this keyword is ranked on Google's first page already, and as long as you follow my SEO techniques, then you can really compete or beat Ezinearticles authors for their Google traffic.

So I'm sure you're wondering which keywords you should type in the search bar to find highly ranked keywords that you can dominate with Squidoo.

Well, one option is to just try out random keyword phrases that Google's keyword tool or Keyword Elite pumps out.

Well anyways, then type in the keyword on Google and look at the ranking of the article that comes up. If its in the top 10, you know that you can beat it out with Squidoo.

Then you make a lens using that keyword phrase following a good SEO strategy; You can try Brand New SEO Software Has Web Hosts Everywhere SCREAMING.. or check out the top 15 articles per category and try to beat their keyword out for the top Google spot.

To do this, head over to http://www.ezinearticles.com

Click on any of the Article Categories in the middle of the homepage.



For example, I will click on "Business"

Then after you click on that, there's subcategories that pop up. Click on any one of the subcategories. I clicked on the "Accounting" subcategory.

Then click on the first article title that pops up. For this category the first article that pops up is "Budgeting and Forecasting Tips for Small Business"

Note that these articles are not necessarily ranked in the results from their highest spot on Google, right now you are browsing through all of the articles for this subcategory, not by keyword.

Now, at the bottom of the page, you'll see a "Most Viewed EzineArticles In The Business: Accounting Category"

Here you have the top 15 most viewed articles. Most of the time, the reason why they are in the top 15 is because they are ranked on Google's first page.

O.K. So the first thing that I notice, is that all of these articles titles are using a similar keyword.



It looks like the keyword these articles are target is "_____ business accounting software" where ____ is replaced by varying keywords like "best, small, US, Australian, retail, etc"

It looks like this keyword phrase is easy to get a top spot on Google with and likely can be dominated even more by Squidoo.

So let's give this theory a shot.

There is an article titled "Best Business Accounting Software" You can guess that the keywords that this article are optimized for "best business accounting software". So, I typed that in on Google, and not surprisingly on Google's first page. This article is getting tons of traffic from this top 10 ranking, but a Squidoo lens could beat it out with some backlinks and SEO optimization that I use~ Brand New SEO Software

In reality, not all of the top articles are ranked on Google's first page, but there may very well be enough traffic for the keyword that it is worth it to make a Squidoo lens.

So with this keyword "Best Business Accounting Software" I would take that and use it as the keywords to build a Squidoo lens around.

Not only that, if you can't beat out this spot, you now know that you can try varying options related to this keyword, including "retail business software, Australian, UK, US" etc.

A very important point that you should keep in mind, is that the reason why there are so many top rankings for this keyword, is mainly because Ezinearticles was able to overpower any competitive sites.

A major reason why you can not get on the first page of Google for keywords like "Make Money Online" is because the sites which are on Google's first page for that keyword are PR5 or higher, have thousands of backlinks, hundreds of pages of unique content, tons of traffic, etc.

So you are not going to out-do those pages, even with Ezinearticles or Squidoo anytime soon. But with hard work it is not impossible :)

However, the reason why these keywords are getting so much traffic is because Google has chosen Ezinearticles.com over the competiting websites, and you should be thinking along the lines of "well that must mean that these keywords are getting a high number of searches per month, with a low number of optimized competing results"

(optimized meaning when I type the keyword phrase in quotes on Google, the sites that come up are the "keyword optimized competition")

Do your research first and foremost by spying on other affiliate marketers and what they are marketing.

For this keyword "Best Business Accounting Software" I would obviously join an affiliate program promoting some quality accouting software. And then I would make a Squidoo lens using my keyword optimization and SEO techniques

I would recommend that you use Keyword Elite as i found great success with it. I suppose it is the best keyword research tool up to day.
