Donate A Hat Day

I Shannon Boan of Columbus Georgia, proclaim that the Second Saturday of October shall be known as" Donate A Hat Day"
The first official "Donate A Hat Day" will be October 09, 2010.

This is a worth while day to participate in. You will be helping others. You can also claim this a community service. I have it on my calender. Will you please mark the day on yours?

Make it; FUN,FUN,FUN!!!!!!

It can be by word of mouth, e-mail, snail mail or by posting, fliers around your town.

I am a member of the Ladies Auxiliary. We donate or get donations from the community , the items that are needed. At Christmas we fix the men a Christmas Stocking. I thought a warm winter hat may be appreciated. So this is the reason I decided to proclaim this holiday, "Donate A Hat Day. That is also why I chose October to celebrate it.

The purpose of the Valley Rescue Mission is to exalt the name of the Lord Jesus Christ through spiritual, educational,and charitable means directed toward those in spiritual and economic need.

For 40 years the Valley Rescue Mission has worked to affect a change in the quality of life for the homeless, the needy,and the addicted, and to help people reenter society as productive, contributing citizens upon completion of the programs. This goal is not always an easily accomplished task.

The staff of the Valley Rescue Mission continuously asks itself ?what are God?s expectations of me and the Mission and how are we fulfilling His expectations.? We do not want the Valley Rescue Mission to be thought of as a ? holding area? for the poor but rather a beacon to guide and direct the clients and residents, that come to us, towards our Savior, Jesus
Christ.

Host a "Donate A Hat Party" and send out invitations explaining that you are collecting hats for charity. You choose the charity to give the harts to. You can put on the invitation if it should be a child's hat or an male or female adult's hat. This all depends on where you choose to give the hats to.

You can mail or hand deliver the invitations, it's your preference. It can be a part hosted during lunch time with your coworkers, or a party at your home or other venue you choose.

It's your party be creative!

In addition to the above information, I'm going to ask my guest too decorate a hat and wear it to the party. The person with the most creative hat will receive a prize. The prize doesn't have to be expensive, but do keep in mind if you are going to invite Male and Female guest, just male, or just Female.

You can use this with your "Donate A Hat Party", or you can get creative and choose a contest of your own.
There is no rule stating you have to have a contest of any kind. I always like to make my parties fun and memorable.

1. Serve light refreshments.

2. Instead of having your guest decorate a hat and wear it to the party, you could organize a scavenger hunt.

3. Play games and give prizes to the winners.

4. your" Donate a Hat Party" could be that you invite your friends that knit. This is a good way for you to socialize with your knitting friends and use up scrap yarn.

5. If you own a business your "Donate a Hat" Doesn't have to be a party. Advertise that on this day, for the customers who donates a hat will get a discount on one item, or on their whole purchase if they purchase a certain amount.( you could have some hats on hand and they could purchase them from You}

6. Be creative and come up with your own ideas, to celebrate "Donate A Hat Day".
