Everybody should have a spare pair of glasses on hand. So if your prescription has not changed too much then there will not be much difference between the old lenses and the new ones. Therefor you may want to hold on th the old pair; just in case of an emergency. It is also good to be prepared for mishaps like broken eyeglasses with at least one spare in the house.

And don't forget spare pairs are great to keep in the car (just in case) or to take with you while traveling.

The World Health Organization (WHO) tells us that about a quarter of the world's entire population is in urgent need of eyeglasses! In many countries, buying a pair of eyeglasses may cost as much as three months average salary.

When we stop to think Small that thousands of visually impaired people are also jobless, perhaps because they cannot afford a pair corrective eyeglasses?

Think of the thousands of mothers in poor areas that cannot see the faces of their young children clearly because of their uncorrected eyesight.

In North America alone, it is estimated that more than 4,000,000 (that's right, four million!) old or unused eyeglasses are simply thrown in the garbage.

So you see, donating your old eyeglasses can really save someones livelihood.

Donating your old eyeglasses is actually very simple. There are a number of organizations that have drop-boxes, or you can mail in your old glasses or just a donation in general.
