Donna Hay on Lifestye Food
The new show began this week
The first episode featured 5 recipes with my 2 favourites being;
Chicken with Honey and Haloumi and Chocolate Cinnamon Won-tons
I cooked both of these last weekend when I had some friends over for dinner. The chicken and Haloumi was simple and tasted great. The only modification I made was to add 1/3 more honey and lemon. I was not as happy with the Choc Cinnamon Wontons. A couple of things went wrong for me I think. Firstly I used organic dark chocolate and it was a little dry. I am not sure if it is because I cooked it too long or it just had less fat than regular chocolate. Secondly I made up the wontons in advance and sat them in the fridge before the guests arrived. This may also have contributed to the dryness. Every single one was eaten though so they were not that bad ;-)

I browsed this in the bookstore thinking I would ask my kids to buy it for me for Mother's day. There were so many things I wanted to make right now that I ended up splurging on it. It has so many great time saving tips and at the same time the food is so beautifully presented it looks like you spent hours preparing it. You can browse inside the book on the publishers website.

Seasons is a huge book with over 300 pages of rustic, simple recipes. The seasonal arrangement of recipes works really well guiding you to cooking what are the best and cheapest ingredients at the markets. All of the recipes are photographed and it's as beautiful as it is practical.

- I'd second Addy in this, but would add "healthy" recipes too. So, Donna Hay is one of those chefs I'd check the recipes!

- I know so many great Australian chefs. Extremely talented people! Did you say she styled the party for Oprah's great Australian adventure? THAT party? I am amazed beyond belief. She must have a pretty hefty fee now if you hire her to style a party for you :) Great lens! ;-)
