Honor the Military
Big holidays have a tendency to make us remember those less fortunate then ourselves. The Salvation Army is out ringing their bells, and we walk by drop a dollar in knowing we have done our part to feed the hungry.
We watch our guys and gals in the military make broadcasts on TV to their families. The Marines are running toys for tots so they are very visible. After the 25th, the toys are quietly packed up and after the first the broadcast go away. Our military, just like out poor, drop out of sight. They cease to be individuals and become just the soldiers overlooked.
Our military are still fighting hard weeks later after Christmas, comes that day called Valentine day. In some ways Valentines day is worse. Valentines day is a day for couples and no matter where you are, on the battle field or in your bunk the looming loneliness of this day is more acute the other days, Lets let them know we love them.
