Don't Submit!

I have not submitted any lenses to search engines and yet I have been ranked quickly and have ranked well. How? Well, I will explain why you should not submit to search engines in a minute.

Before You Start...

SquidooHQTo start off this lens I would like to introduce you to squidooHQ.com this is a squidoo blog that I have made in order to help other lensmasters make money on squidoo. If you have the time and want to learn more about the inner workings of squidoo, check out SquidooHQ.com .

(Also, this lens has it's own blog post! Here it is - Why You Should Not Submit Your Lens To Search Engines )

Why you should not submit!

Lets start with why you don't have to submit your lens to any search engines. The answer to that is the search engine will find it by itself! That's right, if you have been linking to your lens from more then just your account page then the search engines will find you page and list it within a week or a little bit longer.

The search engines like Google, Yahoo, MSN, AOL, and other big time search engines are smart enough to find your lens on their own.

Now, to the main point... Why else shouldn't I submit?

Well, putting saving a lot of time aside, there is a theory that might give your lens an advantage. That theory says that if you make a page that the search engines find by themselves that your page will get a boost in ranking. Why? People have said this because search engines might feel that because you did not submit your site that you are not interested in optimizing your page for search engines. That will make it trust your page more and give it a little bump.

(in case you didn't know, search engines like Google don't like SEOs.)

Did You Know?

What do you think? Did you know about this before?

Example of a great comment - "Wow! I did not know that before! Thank you for your highly underrated words of wisdom!" or a simple "thanks for the info" would work fine.

Interesting theory. My ouramericandream lens was doing great until (it seems) I submitted it to the search engines using the supposed help of submission sites. Now I get no traffic and a ton of spam in my mailbox from those submission sites.

Hmmm, there's someone in the forums who keeps talking about submitting her lenses to google and nothing happens. Maybe she needs to read this lens!

Megal, this is new to me. I haven't actually submitted anything to any search engines, and don't know what I am going to do, but I do know that this is going to Margo's How the Squidoo lenses lens! Thanks for the food for thought!
