Donut Frying at Home

This lens is about how I fry donuts just like the local donut shop. It is not about what ingredients I use because you can find all kinds of recipes for donut ingredients online.

I do not have a problem getting the right taste. My problem always was how to get them fried without losing the nice shape. If you jiggled the raised donuts too much they lost that puffiness or even completely collapsed as they hit the grease.

Using a grease splatter screen to lower the donuts.

Yep-I went to the dollar store and bought 2 round grease splatter screens. I bent the handle up and washed, rinsed, and sanitized the screen. After the screen was completely dried, I sprayed it down with nonstick spray. I placed the donuts on the screen to rise.

My Fry Kettle

This kettle may be a little overkill. You can use something a little lower than I did. I just heated the grease up to temperature, dropped the screen in using the bent handle. Fried the donuts on one side and used a wooden skewer to flip to other side. When done I used the handle to lift them out of the grease and whalla-perfect shaped donuts.
