The Complete Guide Doom Weapons

The most powerful weapons in DragonFable are also the most expensive, and they carry some kind of cursed past: the Doom Weapons.

There's an evil energy in the Doom Weapons that might factor in some major story arch in the future. Until then, they are the coolest items in DragonFable. For most players the only reason to save up gold is to purchase thier Doom Weapon of choice.

DragonFable is a flash-based browser game. That means you don't download anything to play. The only special software needed is an updated version of Flash, which most people already have.

DragonFable is a single person role-playing game. You do not play with or against other people directly. It is a safe game for kids of all ages.

Visit the DragonFable lens for more general information about the game.

Part I: Background and History

DragonFable Mysterious StrangerThe dealer of the Doom Weapons, the Mysterious Stranger, gives us little information about the weapons. "Only a true hero such as yourself should be trusted with a Doom Weapon," says the creepy cloaked figure. "Their greatest powers have yet to be unlocked."

A great source of information about the Doom Weapons is the Irismancer. The Doom Weapons were created by beings of pure darkness so the dark beings could stay on the world of Lore. The Irismancer states, "Thus, the Doom Weapons were born. Weapons of purest darkness with corrupt and evil mind of their own." The Irismancer continues, warning, "Everyone can ignore the whispers for a while, but in then (sic) end they end up dead or mad or worse... like Sepulcher."

The Irismancer says that the evil Sepulcher, once a great hero, became corrupt thanks to a weapon called the Necrotic Blade of Doom. Sepulcher's armor may have been made the same way as the Blade of Doom. "The armor he wears," the Irismancer says of Sepulcher, "the armor of a Doom Knight... it actually wears him."

According to general rumor, the Doom Weapon axe, called the ShadowReaper of Doom, has a special past. The weapon once belonged to the paladin, Artix. After an undead assault, "the holy Axe of the Paladin Artix was cursed and infused with the pure darkness to create this terrible weapons of unstoppable dark power."

If what the Irismancer says is true, then the "pure darkness" that inhabits the ShadowReaper of Doom is actually a being of darkness. The curse, however, is an unknown factor. It is assumed that all Doom Weapons have a curse of some kind.

During certain times of the year, the Doom Weapons take on an eerie red glow. It is assumed that some kind of evilness activates the glow, making the weapons extra powerful or just extra cool.

During the second Friday the 13th Undead Invasion, the Doom Weapons increased in power. It was as if the weapons drew in dark power from the undead.

The lore behind the Dagger of Golden Light has a connection directly to the Twin Blades of Doom. According to official sources, Enzik's Dagger of Golden Light was an honorary for "Enzik, the first person to obtain the Twin Blades of Doom!" It is unclear as to why a dagger of light was forged in the honor of the first person to possess the evil Doom daggers.

Owners of Doom Weapons have already reported hearing the dark whispers coming the weapons while others are hearing laughter... dark laughter.

Part II: Where to Buy and Upgrade

DragonFable Doom WeaponsDoom Weapons were once for sale by the old proprietor of the Inn in Falconreach. Now the weapons can only be bought from the mysterious stranger. This shadowy, cloaked figure is in Falconreach, two screens west [left] of Falconreach's main screen.

There are currently three Doom Weapons available from the mysterious stranger. For the Rogues, there are the Twin Blades of Doom. For the Warriors, there is the axe, ShadowReaper of Doom. Mages have the Skullstaff of Doom.

The Doom Weapons sell for 25,000 gold. They originally sold for 20,000 gold and there is no guarantee that the price will not go up again.

For Dragon Amulet holders, it is possible to upgrade the Doom Weapons. This is done in Chaney's shop in Crystal Clear Lake. To get there, first go to Amityvale. Then talk to Thursday and pick the Crystal Clear Lake quest.

From the starting screen of Crystal Clear Lake go South, East, East, East, North, and into the shop.

The upgrade will cost 5,000 gold, which covers the price of Research Materials that Chaney needs to ugrade the Doom Weapon. The upgrade effects are:
  • SkullStaff of Doom goes to Crit +2 INT +2.
  • ShadowReaper of Doom goes to Crit +2 STR +2.
  • Twin Blades of Doom go to Crit +1 and STR +2.

Part IV: Unlucky Doom Weapons

DragonFable Doom WeaponsIt was during one Friday the 13th that the Unlucky Doom Essence was found in the town of Falconreach. The Weapons of Doom became more powerful on such days, but this day would be different. Among the shattered remains of the undead and scattered ashes of disguised fire creatures were the rare Unlucky Doom Essence pouches.

When taken to the Mysterious Stranger, the Unlucky Doom Essence can be used to increase the power of Doom Weapons. But there is a price. The dark energy that makes the Doom Weapons more powerful carries a curse that is placed upon the wielder of the Doom Weapon.

The Unlucky Doom Essence was a rare drop available during a Friday the 13th invasion. If the wielder of a doom weapon has already upgraded it with Chaney at Crystal Clear Lake and has a Dragon Amulet, then the Mysterious Stranger will upgrade the weapon for one Doom Essence.

The Unlucky Doom Essence can be found in a weaker form. This form is in the Haunted Castle quest by Artix in Falconreach. Because the Unlucky Doom Essence found there is weaker, it takes five to upgrade the Doom weapon.

Doom Weapons upgraded to Unlucky Doom Weapons have the following stat changes:

For the weak of heart.

If for some odd reason one wants to convert a Doom Weapon into a weapon of light, then visit Artix at the Necropolis and complete the missions he has. You can trade Undead Slayer badges in to purify and upgrade your Doom Weapon... Although I have no idea why you would want to do that.
