Door Knockers Are Back With A Bang!

Ducking Stool Door Knocker.
This door knocker is unusual, I haven't seen its like before. The door knocker illustrates the ancient English punishment of 'ducking'. Around the time of the 17th century, the ducking stool was often used as a punishment for women. The woman was strapped to the seat on the end of the lever like arm and the operator would duck the woman in the river, or pond for as long as he saw fit.

Queen Elizabeth Coronation Door Knocker

This solid brass door knocker was crafted in 1953 to commemorate the coronation of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II at Westminster Abbey in London on June 2 of that year.
The door knocker is marked "ER" for Elizabeth Regina (Latin for Elizabeth the Queen) and the motto of the British Monarch, "Dieu et mon droit," which is on a scroll beneath the shield of the coat of arms of the United Kingdom.

Before alarm clocks were affordable or reliable people villages and towns would employ a 'Knocker-Upper' to wake them to ensure that they got to work on time! Usually male, they would carry a long, light stick so that they could knock on the upper windows of the houses to rouse people from sleep, not leaving their windows until they were sure that their client was awake.
The profession died out with the advent of readily available, cheaper alarm clocks!
