Door Monkeys To Help With Childproofing

Ranked #951 in Parenting & Kids, #28,875 overall

I have to say I love this product. In fact it was a life saver for me. When my child started walking, he loved playing with the doors and pinched his fingers twice. Also there was a risk that he might get locked inside. It was not an age when he could remember if something is not safe for him, and I had to constantly watch if he is putting his hands in between the doors. I tried a lot to find a solution for this problem, and finally I found the door monkeys from amazon.

If you stay in your own home, you can find a permanent solution by getting new latches for your doors which your child cannot access. But this was not possible for me since I was staying in a rented house where I was not allowed to make such modifications.

The good thing with door monkeys is that you can easily install them in any standard 1.38″ thick doors without the help of any tools and you can remove them whenever you want to. Just make sure you put it in a height your child can’t reach.

Also you can easily carry the door monkeys with you while you are traveling and even use them in the grandparent’s home or your friend’s home if you want. There will be a partial opening once you put the door monkey in the door, which helps with air circulation. In case your child is sleeping inside the room, by putting the door monkey in the door you can make sure your child won’t close the door from inside and get locked inside in case he wakes up. I used door monkeys for the bedroom as well as the bathroom. The only thing that you may need to make sure is if the product suits your door type.

Door monkeys were one of the best things I purchased to childproof my home and it helped me a lot by giving me some peace of mind when my toddler was running and playing around!

I think this would work for keeping pets from opening doors and closets too. Worth a try.

Thank you for reviewing this product! These are perfect for my doors - my son (he turns 3 soon) has finally figured out how to work the spinning plastic covers we have on the door handles and he is getting into everything! Door Monkeys - definitely adding to our list of things to purchase!

I must admit that I had just so much fun with my son and he gave me a lot of grey hair and I can relate how I constantly needed to watch him. This is a very very educational lens in my opinion. Keep up the good work.

What a clever solution to keeping the little one's fingers safe from getting pinched in doors, or keeping them from going in places where they shouldn't go!

You know, I've wondered what these are. I keep hearing mom's talk about them, but I felt stupid asking what they were. These sound like a great product!
