Everything you need to know about pottery studios and galleries in Door County Wisconsin
Door County is home to artists of all kinds: professional, hobbyists, students and those who support the arts. It could be argued that in this little county in northeast Wisconsin, the arts, including performance art, is the center of all that is good and wonderful here. This lens focuses on the potters in Door County. Many of them have both studios and galleries, but many don't, and several local galleries represent them. I'll be updating more often, now, as more people return to the county and I can get the information from the individual potters.
Door County Potteries and Their Galleries
I put together a working list of potters in Door County, mostly northern Door. I will add to these as I get their information.
- Clay Bay Pottery- Ellison Bay
- David and Jeanne Aurelius create their well known Lady Vases and other works with Door County scenes on them.
- Ellison Bay Pottery Studios - Ellison Bay
- John Dietrich and Diane McNeil create functional stoneware with gem-like glazes and unique pit fired ceramic art.
- Gills Rock Stoneware - Ellison Bay
- Thor and Judy Thoreson create beautiful, colorful and functional stoneware here. They are well known for their lighthouses..decorative and lamps.
- Plum Bottom Pottery - Egg Harbor
- Chad Luberger works in porcelain clay making both functional and decorative pottery.
- TR Pottery -Fish Creek
- Tony and Renee' Gebauer create functional high fire stoneware and wood fired pottery in downtown Fish Creek, and also offer classes.
- The Potter's Wheel - Fish Creek
- Abe Cohn and his wife, Ginka, have the oldest running pottery studio and gallery in Door County. In his 80's Abe is still working daily in his studio. Abe and John Dietrich of Ellison Bay Potter are co-founders of the Door County Potters Guild.
- Off The Wheel Pottery - Egg Harbor
- Renee' Schwaller creates beautiful and functional work at her studio/gallery in Egg Harbor, WI
- Ephraim Clay Works - Ephraim
- Brian Fitzgerald makes his pottery on site while his wife Tracey manages the gallery. Brian makes functional pottery and raku and wood fired pots.
