Doorway Pull Up Bars

If you're thinking about doing the P90X program, or simply working out from home, then you're probably looking at doorway pull up bars. A doorway pull up bar is extremely essential if you're following the P90X program, or you're simply looking to build muscle from home.

As you may have noticed, there are actually a lot of products to choose from, which is why it's essential that you read this article. In this article, I want to teach you exactly how you can get a doorway pull up bar for a good low price, give you some recommended websites to look at for more advice, discuss with you the positives and negatives of a doorway pull up bar, before finally allowing you to share your thoughts. Of course, I may also post some fun poll questions and other tips along the way. With that being said, let's go ahead and get started.

How to Get a Good Bar for a Good Price.

First, you need to find a good doorway pull up bar.

If you're going to find a good doorway pull up bar, there is always one place that I recommend looking: Amazon. Amazon is great because you can easily compare products based off their ratings, as shown in the image above.

Second, you need to find a good price.

Once you have found a high rated doorway pull up bar, you will want to Google Shopping, to see if you can find the same bar listed for a lower price. Usually, Amazon has pretty low prices in itself, but in the example above, you can see that I managed to find the "Iron Gym Total Upper Body Workout Bar" for a lower price.

Recommended Websites

Lately, I have been pretty big on giving my readers the option to view other publisher opinions. For that reason, I love listing a few good sources for anything that I am talking about. Each of these sources I found were extremely beneficial, and I would definitely recommend looking to them for some extra information, after viewing this article.

1. Amazon Doorway Pull Up Bars: As I already mentioned above, Amazon is a great place to find and compare products. I would definitely recommend checking them out.

2. Skinny Bulkup: This site actually has some pretty good information. One thing that I liked, when I read it is that they mentioned that doorway pull up bars do not really work as "dip bars," even though they're often advertised as being able to do both. Truth is, doorway pull up bars don't offer a good range of motion. Anyway, check out Skinny Bulk Up for sure.

3. Beach Body: Finally, I would definitely recommend checking out the Beach Body P90X doorway pull up bar. Although the reviews are controversial, this really does seem to be a well designed bar, that I would definitely recommend looking further into.

Positives

Now that you have a good list of websites to go ahead and look through, let's take some time to really look into the positives of doorway pull up bars, and really focus on what they have to offer.

Low Price: If you're looking for something that's relatively cheap to purchase, doorway pull up bars are extremely low in price. When I got my first bar back in the day, it was about $40.00, and this was your basic pull up bar. Now, you can get great mutli-grip pull up bars for sometimes under $30.00. If you want something basic, you can sometimes get a price as low as $20.00. Although these bars are basic, they are effective.

Doesn't Take Up Space: Free standing pull up bars can take up a lot of room space. But doorway pull up bars on the other hand take up absolutely no space, because their attached to your door. Now, because doorway pull up bars are portable, you will likely remove them from your door while their not in use. But because they're so small, they can easily be stowed away in your closet, or simply in a free space within your room. (Like under a computer desk, for example.)

Multiple Grip Positions*: Some doorway pull up bars are actually pretty fancy, offering more than your basic grip positions. If you look at some of the doorway pull up bars on this page, you will be able to see what I am talking about, when it comes to multiple grip positions. The P90X doorway pull up bar is one of those bars which does offer these multiple grip positions, so again, I would definitely check that out.

Negatives

You're probably now beginning to think that doorway pull up bars are pretty awesome, but as with any product, there are some definite drawbacks that you should be aware of before making a purchase.

1. Doesn't work with all door frames: Many doorway pull up bars fit well with standard home door frames. However, if you live in a manufactured home, then you may be out of luck. Be sure to always check your door frames. Also, check the pull up bar you're purchasing to make sure the one your purchasing will fit your door frame.

2. Working out with your door open: This doesn't really bother me too much, but it can get annoying having to workout with your door open. With a free standing pull up bar, you can obviously workout with your doors closed, but not with a doorway pull up bar.

Adjustable Dumbbells

If you're planning on following a program like the P90X, it's extremely important that you have a good set of dumbbells. Most of us don't have the space or the money to buy a huge set of dumbbells like you would see at your local gym. Luckily for us, there are adjustable dumbbells in which we can purchase. Definitely check out that link, if you're interested in having your own home gym.

We have the Beachbody pull-up bar and it seems to work pretty well... although you DO have to have a doorway that's not in a corner because the bar sticks out on either side and doesn't work everywhere. Don't agree that it's all that easy to store, purely because of its awkward shape. We've found the best solution is to hook it over a closet rail when not in use!
