Dorm Room Decor

Shop college dorm room decor, appliances, lighting, seating, and supplies.
Your college dorm room decor should reflect your personal style. Decorate with colors and images that give you joy and stimulate your intellect.
Start with a color scheme, or choose a bedding set that will inspire your room colors. From there you'll need extra seating for all the friends who will drop by, and wall decor including posters and tapestries. Don't forget lighting - at the bottom of the page you'll find featured desk lamps and ever-popular black lights and black light posters.
Dorm room decor, and your roommate
...respect your roommate's ideas, but remember, you can do your own thing.
If possible, contact your roommate in advance to ask what he or she prefers for dorm room decor, and if possible work out some compromises. Choosing similar colors would be a great start! Although you might like for both sides of the room to match, it isn't always possible, and you should definitely plan on doing your own thing on your side of the room.
Don't demand changes in your roommate's decor, and don't tell him or her that you don't like their contributions to the ambiance of your shared dorm room. Everyone has their own preferences, and you will be happier when you appreciate the differences in the other person, as much as you appreciate the similarities.
Start your dorm room decor with a comforter
...a good comforter sets the mood and provides your color scheme.
You may be spending a lot of time on the bed studying, sleeping, even eating! Your comforter should not only please your senses, it should be easy to keep clean - or at least, not something that immediately shows every bit of dirt.
Once you choose a dorm bedding set, you'll know more about how you want your room decorated, whether it be a sports motif or a romantic floral pattern, or stark black and white.
Dorm beds are usually extra long, so ordinary twin size sheets are likely to be too short. Buy a "Dorm in a Bag" set and make sure you're getting a bed size that matches the dorm room you're moving into. Check with the college if you're at all unsure what you need.

- This makes me miss the "good old days" of dorm living. We used to have one of those beaded curtains across our doorway. Do they still make those? We didn't have a lot of money so a lot of our "decor" was scrounged at thrift shops. I had a collection of wine glasses that mother later said I had "stolen" from bars. Geesh, I didn't spend that much time in bars!
Great shopping lens. I love the tapestries.
