Doryx

Doryx kills bacteria. It also kills parasites. It is not only used for acne medications; it has also been used to treat patients with malaria. In both capacities, doryx can cause certain side effects. Its use can lead to enamel loss on the teeth. That can cause stains to form on the teeth.

A physician can not recommend doryx to any patient who has acne problems. A person who is allergic to doxcycline or tetracycline should not use doryx. A patient who is using a food supplement with Vitamin A should not take doryx. A woman who is using an oral contraceptive should not take a drug that contains doryx.

If you are using doryx and are scheduled for surgery, be sure to let the anesthetist know that you have taken doryx. Doryx can interact with methoxyflurone, a type of anesthetic.

There are many medications that interact with doryx. A patient who takes phenytoin to prevent seizures should not use doryx. A patient who relies on warfarin to thin his or her blood should not use doryx. A patient who's taking penicillin to treat an infection should not use doryx.

There are certain substances that should not be ingested at the same time as doryx. A period of two hours should separate the use of certain substances and the use of dorxy. A patient taking doryx should introduce that 2 hour interval if he or she wants to use an antacid. Bismuth salts and pills containing iron should not be taken at the same time as a pill with doryx.

Like some of the present-day pills used to prevent osteoporosis, doryx should be taken by someone who is in an upright position. The patient who has ingested a pill with doryx should remain in a upright position for at least 30 minutes.

Obviously, it might be best to take doryx in the morning. If you have chosen to take a pill with doryx every morning, be sure not to skip breakfast. Doryx should not be taken on an empty stomach.

Do not use doryx if you are pregnant. Doryx can hurt the developing fetus; it can also damage the liver of the growing child's mother.
