Double Buggy Pushchairs
Trying to decide what double buggy stroller to get?
Buying the wrong pushchair can turn your time out with your kids into a stressful one. Before buying one, it's important to know their specifications, key strengths and potential factors that will make it not suitable for your lifestyle or unique requirements.
Here are the double buggies that I have tried so far, their Pros and Cons, and who I think they are best suited for. I've also provided links to comprehensive reviews of them with real-time price comparisons.
They are all suitable from birth.
Double Buggy #1: Jane Powertwin Pro
A Tandem Travel System

If bought with car seats, Jane Powertwin Pro can be suitable for newborns to 3 year old toddlers (max seat capacity 33 lbs each). Have your older/heavier child sit on the front.
Pros:
- Will fit through doors, unlike side-by-side double pushchairs.
- Padded handle bars adjustable from 96 to 107 cm - most suited for people from 5'3" to 6'2".
- Hand operated brakes for front wheels gives you more control on steep downward walkways.
- Big hoods with viewing windows and side pockets for your bits and bobs.
- Pneumatic wheels make this an All Terrain Tandem pushchair.
- Removable rear wheels give you more storage room.
- Easy to collapse and set up with 2 hands.
- 2 recline positions for each seat unit.
Cons:
- Because it's a double buggy, of course it will be harder to steer than a single buggy.
- It's big. Its dimensions when open is L 128 x W 60 x H 101 cm, but this is expected as it's for 2 children.
- Weighing 15 kg, some parents find it too heavy, but then again that's what you can expect from a double buggy.
- The seats are not reversible.
- The worst thing I can say about this pushchair is that you might find the foot rest for the front seat as insufficient to keep your child's legs out of the front wheel's way.

Double Buggy #2: Cosatto You 2 Twin Pushchair
A Best Buy Twin Pushchair

Practical and functional, Cosatto You 2 Twin is as good as twin pushchairs can go. It comes in a wide range of funky colours and various accessories.
Pros:
- Suitable from birth to 3 years old, so you can also use it for 2 kids of different age.
- Considering it's a twin buggy, it's relatively lightweight and comfy to steer and push.
- It's 75 cm wide so it can fit through most standard sized shop doors, which solves the primary problem of owning a twin pushchair.
- The You 2 comes with a raincover secured by press studs and velcro, 2 thermo insulated bottle bags which fits onto the frame, 2 matching footmuffs, 2 head supports, 2 chest pads, and 2 hoods with viewing window.
- Easy to fold and unfold, has a self-catching clip and fits in most boots of medium sized cars.
- It comes with a 4 year guarantee if you register it within 4 weeks from date of purchase!
Cons:
- You 2 has non-adjustable handles, non-reversible seats, and you won't be able to fit it with car seats. But then again, most twin pushchairs are limited in this way.
- Adjusting its components and folding it requires 2 hands.

Double Buggy #3: Phil & Teds Vibe
All Terrain Double Buggy for Baby and Toddler

The Vibe is actually a single stroller that can be converted to a Tandem pushchair if bought with the "Double Kit" (as pictured above). The main seat is suitable from birth. Phil & Teds Vibe will also suit those who already have a child older than 9 months and have another baby on the way.
Pros:
- Will give a comfy ride for your baby even if used on bumpy terrains.
- Sturdy and stable. Not prone to tipping over.
- Seats offer more room compared to other pushchairs buggies.
- Front seat has a maximum capacity of 25 kg so you can use it for newborns up to 5 years old. The rear seat has a max capacity of 15 kg and is suitable from 3 months onwards.
- Lockable and fully removable front swivel wheel. Rear pneumatic tyres have mud guards and removeable.
- Ergonomic, adjustable handles.
Cons:
- Weighs 12.5 kg (27.5 lbs) so be aware how you might find this weight.
- Bulky. Folded, it measures about 46x95x65 cm
- Unlike other Double buggies featured here, the Vibe is not compatible with a car seat, and therefore can't be used as a travel system.
- Folding it requires steps and you must use both hands.

Double Buggy #4: Graco Stadium Duo Tandem
A Great All-rounder Tandem Pushchair

Graco Stadium Duo is designed for those with kids with different ages. It's very versatile and can be used with a number of compatible car seats (pictured above). It's perfect for those who want a tandem pushchair under £150.
Pros:
- Max load of 15 kg per seat.
- Adjustable hoods with windows.
- Comfortable seats - well padded, with easy recline mechanisms and washable seat covers.
- Rear seat suitable for newborns. Front seat suitable from 6 months to 3 years.
- Folds in a concertina style and easy to fold. Will fit in most medium sized cars.
- Storage basket can hold up to 5 kg.
Cons:
- Basket is not easily accessible.
- Weighs 14 kg (31 lbs) so if you are going to lift this up and down stairs or something like that, be prepared to get help
- It doesn't come with bells and whistles like a car seat, rain cover, or changing bag. However this is reflected on the price so if you want these accessories you can just get them as extras.
- It's obviously not as easily steered as a single stroller and can at times feel like a tank, but it is manageable.
