Play Golf Like Tiger

While playing golf it is very important to tune up your mental abilities rather than always focusing on your physical abilities. Golf is such a brilliant game that it needs a perfect balance between the brain and the brawn.

One of the main characteristics which the golfer should have is that he should always have a positive thinking towards the game. It builds attitude and confidence within the player. Thus it is very important for the player to be strong and confident before getting into the game of golf.

While playing golf the golfer has to control his anger and frustration because it will disrupt the thoughts of the player. While playing, every shot will go wrong and rather will be irritating if the player's mind is filled with negative thoughts. Your whole golf day can get ruined if you can't control these negative emotions

It is better you always think about the next shot even though the previous shot was worst in your golf career. Have a good focus to convert your next shots into a good one. Play each shot with positive attitude. Always follow a common swing pattern to conquer pressure issues.

It might be hard to play if you look at all the holes in a single glance. Understand that the flow of this game changes after every hole is covered. It is important to play the game with slow and steady attitude. Give your best possible effort in playing this wonderful game. Don't get frustrated if you play a bad shot, think about the next shot with more focused mind and in no time you will have a series of comfortable shots with a good score.

You should consistent by playing and practicing. Know what your game style is and then set your goals. Stop doing those poor judgments which used to result in disaster shots. Practice more and more by trying to rectify those mistakes. More than anything else, you should trust on your basic instincts to rank more.

It is certainly a huge achievement to gain good golf ranks, but to gain that kind of achievement one needs to have a strong confident. Enjoy every bit of the game. Don't get nervous just because you have a couple of bad shots in your golf score. By each failure shot you will learn more on how to play good shots. Do some research on developing your talents, trust in yourself while playing each shot.

Golf is such a wonderful game that it requires one to have a good control on mind over body. It is not that difficult to achieve what you dream for, but it is not certainly easy without any effort involved.

Handling Golf Information

How to find and incorporate the best golf information for your game.

There are mountains of golf information available. As far back as the turn of the century, golfers wanted tips and techniques, and many golf professionals and authors were happy to oblige. My own library has some of these old instruction classics and much of it is relevant today.

You need to assess the quality of information. Have you been recommended by someone who has tried it, can the method be demonstrated and shown to be used by top professionals?

Is the information given in sequence? The information needs to come in a logical step by step sequence. If you try a move in the downswing with mistakes in the backswing and stance, it is unlikely that move will work. If you don't have a good impact position when you chip, it will be more difficult to achieve that when you pitch or make a full swing.

Can you understand the information whether in written form, video or in person?

If you don't understand something or you don't think it is working for you, ask questions. If you feel you are getting overloaded, just master one thing before you go on to the next.

You need some detail about what you are learning so you understand why and how the process works. Keeping it simple does not necessarily make it easy to execute if it is incomplete. So it is necessary to know the principles, but the goal is simplicity and unconscious thought in the motion.

How practical is the information?
Perfect practice makes perfect, so are there drills, positions, movements to copy so you can learn?

How are you going to get feedback about what you are learning?
The ultimate test is how your shots improve in practice or on the course. Have you got a way of recording and assessing the information?

You can get observations from a coach who can analyse video and help you into the right positions.
You can practise in front of a mirror with a swing sequence taped to it. You can use your own video and even download to a computer. You can use a launch monitor program on your own computer. Even get a golf simulator, which is great where you can't play in winter.

Whatever path you choose it will take some commitment on your part, even if it is only 10 minutes every second day. Even this small amount of worthwhile practice is better than aimlessly hitting balls hoping you will discover the secret.

Improving your golf will take an investment of time and money. You can try and find out by yourself or buy other people's experience and shortcuts.

A Few Things About Golf Planning

Golf Planning

Golf is made up of many different facets. From putting to driving, from game planning to shot planning and review all areas of golf contribute to your overall score.

The most popular facet of the game tends to be driving. I went to the PGA Golf Show on the Gold Coast last month where there was an indoor driving range. At least 90% of the golfers were using the latest driver, and unfortunately, most of them were not really having great success.

Despite the advances in Golf club technology, the performances of average golfers have not advanced as quickly. One reason is the desire of players to hit the ball further with a "better swing" in the hope of lower scores.

Golf professionals teach the majority of their lessons on the range rather than on the course. The reasons are the golfer's requirements, the convenience of a golf range, the technology
of video and the time and money involved with on course lessons.

It is difficult for the golf professionals to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the individual golfer's game and then focus on the most productive areas for lower scores.

The process of taking statistics for golfers is not an easy one. It involves sitting down after the game and trying to remember what happened over 4 hours and up to 100 or more shots.

The statistics of fairways hit, greens in regulation, up and downs, sand saves, total putts and putts per green in regulation really don't mean much to the majority of golfers. Normal stats don't show the type of shot, distance of shot and distance remaining to the hole.

Playing by distance is a key known to all pro golfers who have their caddies on hand with detailed maps and distances to targets. This process was refined to great effect by Jack Nicklaus and is common practice on every pro tour. When you
put this information together with the knowledge of the precise distances they hit each club with different shots, it gives them a huge advantage over the average player.

Now you can have this information available to you with scaled hole maps and magnified short game areas in a pocket book you can use on the course. You simply mark where each shot finishes until you hole out.

This will give you the distances you hit, identify problem areas and add detail to your stats so you can get a true picture of your game. You can show this information to your pro or use it to work on the right areas of your game to lower your scores.

Doug,
I could not agree with you more. So much of golf teaching focuses on the swing and not on the strategy/planning of the game on the course.

Great lense!
