Search Engine Optimization Appreciation
E-Commerce and SEO
This is a lens showing my appreciation to fellow SEOs and SEMs around the world as we have become a different kind of business breed applying traditional principles to new technological advances. As the industry is ever-changing and advancing, I understand that the more I learn, the more there is to know in this online world. I plan on returning to school to obtain my Master's of Business Administration and continue this implementation of employing my business knowledge to the advancing technical world.
My New Career-Path to Internet Marketing
Newfound E-Commerce Marketing Analyst and Professional SEO
The summer before my final semester at The W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University I was fortunate enough to have stumbled upon the wide world of E-Commerce and Search Engine Optimization. In pursuit of my business degree with an emphasis in marketing, I was in the hunt for an internship that final summer. Little did I know, this move would change my career path for the better.
Stumbling upon Gold
SEO and E-Commerce
I began my internship at Allegro Medical, an e-commerce retailer of medical equipment and supplies where I immediately began my pay-per-click responsibilities with keyword research, bidding, and ad writing. Shortly after graduation I came on full-time as an E-Commerce Marketing Analyst where I moved into the content portion of the website writing product descriptions for higher search rankings and such. During my years there, I was fortunate enough to have established and developed skills in the search engine marketing world such as link building, pay-per-click advertising, site navigation optimization, and content optimization. Other tasks I have completed while at Allegro were acting as the liaison between our graphics design team for easier spyder crawls and being the pivot-point with various publications as we broke into the print ad industry, a strong step forward from our standard internet advertising. I was also the project lead for our email marketing campaign and our eBay opperations for some time. But the bread and butter of it all was SEO. I learned most of what I know from an SEO expert, Lance Faulkner. From keyword research to content optimization I was able to apply my knowledge from Arizona State University to the online world as I learned more and more of the internet industry.
The SEO Story Continues...
Choice Hotels International
I am now part of the SEO team at Choice Hotels International. I am very excited to be a part of a great team and a phenomenal company. Choice Hotels stresses the importance of business ethics and staying away from "shady" practices. This will be my first experience with such professionalism in my career. I am ecstatic to make the most of it and continue this great journey.
