Dowsing rods also called Divining rods are used downings

Dowsing for beginners is usually greeted with a myriad of questions.

An often asked question is "what is a dowsing rod or divining rod and how does it work?"

The question that should be asked is "What is dowsing?"

Men and women characterized as diviners, dowsers, have developed and practiced arts regarded as divine or demonic (depending on the viewpoint) and are able to answer questions that logical reason could not provide.

In essence, these people through self training, diligent practice and a profound knowledge of how the universe really functioned.

Engineer Raymond C. Willey's in his 1970 book "Modern Dowsing" gives a great definition, Willey says: "Dowsing is the exercise of a human faculty, which allows one to obtain information in a manner beyond the scope and power of the standard human physical senses of sight, sound, touch, etc."

Author Chris Bird says that "to dowse" is to search for anything. This is generally done with the aid of a hand held instrument, such as a forked stick, a pendulum bob on a string, L-shaped metal rods or a wooden or metal wand.

How Does Dowsing Work?

How does dowsing work? No one truly understands completely how dowsing works.

I believe Moses and ancient priests clearly understood completely how it worked, but, they never told such ideas to the masses, to have done so, would have meant a loss of prestige and power for them.

The main thing to know is - dowsing works - and with proper understanding, learning and regular practice it will work for the most important person in the world - you!

Thomas A. Edison, was once asked, "What is electricity?" and he replied: "I don't know - but its there - so let's use it".

Dowsing Rods For Beginners

It's Fun To Learn How To Do Dowsing

I can remember my first set of dowsing rods and I have hours of fun. After learn how to you them a new world open up for me.

Dowsing Rods "Y"

The Y-rods are designed to find powerspots or water wells. Connected at one end, high quality craftmanship with clear instruction make these rods quite easily to use.

Dowsing Tools

Here Are Few Tools For Dowsing

The L-rod is a very simple dowsing tool. It is consists of a piece of sturdy wire bent at right angles so that there is one long arm and one shorter.

The bobber may have be one of the first dowsing tools consisting of a length of supple wood which was held in one hand.

Dowsing Pendulums, Crystals, bronze, semi-precious stones, bits of turned and polished wood or weighty plastic suspended on a cord are all available.

However, what makes a dowsing tool like a pendulum is just one thing: the weight at the end is heavy enough to keep the cord stretched.

The Y-rod and various types of bobber. Probably this is the tool which is most associated with dowsing because it's the one which most water dowsers seem to use. so it is one of the most commonly visible.

I like to dowsing when I pick out a new crystal for crystal therapy.

History Of Dowsing

How dowsing was start

Dowsing, sometimes called divining, doodlebugging (in the US), or (when searching specifically for water) water finding or water witching, is a practice that attempts to locate hidden water wells, buried metals or ores, gemstones, or other objects as well as currents of earth radiation without the use of scientific apparatus. A Y- or L-shaped twig or rod is sometimes used during dowsing, although some dowsers use other equipment or no equipment at all.

Dowsing has been in use since ancient times and is still widely practiced although the scientific evidence for its efficacy is disputed.[1] In the 1980s German physicists undertook a large experimental study of dowsing and concluded that a "real core of dowser-phenomena can be regarded as empirically proven", while physiologist J. T. Enright wrote that those same experiments provided "the most convincing disproof imaginable that dowsers can do what they claim. Read More

What Is In The News On Dowings

News From Around The World

An ancient art: Dowser works on Whidbey Island

After failing to find a suitable water source, church members on Whidbey Island are turning to an ancient technology to locate the precious liquid.

Members of Bridge Christian Fellowship Community Church recently brought in the services of a "dowser" to find a suitable water vein on their North Whidbey Island property.

The dowser, Bellingham resident Neil Stamey, recently walked the 20-acre property located off Troxell Road with his two bamboo sticks, hoping to find a large enough water source for the church, which is 13,000 square feet in size and includes a kitchen and classrooms.

"I've been doing this for about 26 years all around the area," Stamey said as he was walking the border of the church's property. "It scared the hell out of me when I found out I could do it."

He said he learned he had the skill for dowsing when he was camping near Mount Baker. He came across another camper who was trying to find water. He picked up a stick, gave it a shot and was surprised he had the skill.

"That kind of spooked me," said Stamey, who used to be a loadmaster in the Navy and was once stationed at Whidbey Island Naval Air Station. People from as far away as Georgia have asked for his dowsing services.

Dowsing - Science or Humbug?

by Rasmus Jansson, May 1998

Few people would be more thrilled than I if dowsing were proved to work. A whole new field of physical research would open up, the present-day laws of physics would have to be rewritten or at least expanded. This scenario is a dream of many a physicist; to find new fundamental laws of physics that better explain the world in which we live. But in the case of dowsing, proponents have had the possibility to prove that their ideas hold for centuries without any greater success in capturing the interest of the science community. The science community itself has flaws and is often narrow-minded to new ideas, but given several hundred years of time for evaluation of a few simple claims I believe the critical standpoint is taken on solid grounds. However, I encourage anyone interested in the field to continue research as long as the approach is serious. Simple truths about nature can't choose to hide from the skeptical minds and be seen by the gullible at the same time.

Dowsing For Health

By Dr. Richard Needle

Why use Dr. Needle's Dowsing For Health Program?
Using a pendulum, Dr. Richard Needle can receive insight and detect certain energy vibrations to assess the overall health condition of your body with the highest accuracy. He has over a decade of experience helping clients regain their health through the use of the Pendulum and other health assessment tools.Dr. Needle Ph.D. is a Doctor of Nutrition and a Nurtitional Intuitive. He is a member of the American Society of Nutritional and Dietary Consultants. He has taught Nutrition at Emory Senior University in Atlanta, and is a Minister of the Universal Brotherhood.

I have done dowsing for food and have found it to be very helpful. Also it can be fun to ask your body what food is good for it. You may wish just to give this a try. Sometimes I use dowsing just to see if I'm eat the food at the time of the day that is best for my body. Remember when you started just have fun with it.

Old Ways Help Women Find Old Graves

Written by Lacey Peterson, The Union Democrat June 01, 2009

Cate Culver, a Calaveras County historian and artist, and her friend Diane Heliotes, president of the Calaveras County Genealogical Society, use them to find bodies.

Self-described "grave dowsers," the two employ a technique many associate with looking for underground water.

One recent day, on the outskirts of San Andreas, the grave dowsers walked the hillside around the small Gold Rush-era Pioneer Cemetery. There, the investigators practiced their unusual way of mapping out lost, unmarked graves.

Culver, of Murphys, and Heliotes, of San Andreas, met with historical archaeologist Julia Costello to investigate the Pioneer Cemetery, fenced in to house the Camanche cemetery, flooded with the town in 1962. Before the flood, the cemetery was long abandoned on a small corner of a piece of private property on Highway 12, after one of the county's earliest settlements, Iowa Log Cabin, was moved to San Andreas.
"I'm a scientist. It'll take more than this to make me believe," Costello said. "But it is interesting."

Costello conducted a study on the land years ago and said if someone ever wanted to do anything with the land the boundaries of the cemetery must be determined. Laws protect cemeteries and even private cemeteries on people's own land are ruled by them, if there are more than seven graves, Costello said.

The fence around the Pioneer Cemetery likely does not circle all the graves on the hillside, Costello said.
"The fence is not science," Costello said.

So, the women's goal was not only to get an idea of more accurate grave boundaries on the hill but to practice their hobby.

My Technique For Map Dowsing

By George Shaffer

There are many techniques for finding objects through map dowsing. I like to use the L Rod to help me locate objects. I obtain a map where I believe the object is somewhere within its boundaries. I use both L Rods to tell me what map I should be using. For example I might ask the question "is the object (that I am looking for) in the United States?". If I get a yes response (if the L Rod's Cross this is my yes response if they spread out it is my no response). I then get one L Rod (holding it upside down) I ask the question, point the L Rod in the direction of the object, See picture). I then lay the L Rod down on the map and place a straight edge along that direction. I then go to the other side of the map and ask the same question again. I again lay the L Rod on the map and place another straightedge along that line. If everything goes well the location of the object is where the two lines intersect.

In order to have good success in map dowsing one must prepare themselves for the process. There are about as many ways to prepare oneself as there are individuals. I like to hold a quartz crystal in my hand and stare at the crystal until I get a large blue aura around my hand and crystal. At times the aura occurs quickly and it could take as long as 5+ minutes. The crystal has nothing to do with map dowsing it just gets me relaxed and in the right frame of mind to possibly have success. It is quite important to be relaxed and your mind clear before starting the process of map dowsing. There are many ways to get into the right state of mind and remember what ever works for you is what you should use.

Dowser believes up to 500 buried in early cemetery

By Jeff Helsdon

An Otterville dowser has painted a picture of the past and life surrounding a Port Burwell-area church.

Controversy has surrounded the Estherville Baptist Church cemetery since a barn was erected on the site adjacent to the cemetery last fall.

Area residents - led by Wanda Hoshal of Straffordville - contend the cemetery once ran all the way to present-day Plank Road. Although there are no graves under the barn, because that is where the church is believed to have been, vehicles driving beside the barn would be driving over graves, critics say.

Mae Leonard shared the results of her map dowsing at a recent Municipality of Bayham meeting. Map dowsing is a process where Leonard uses a pendulum and map or aerial photo to detect graves and former structures.

"I don't think it's explainable, but it's picking up cosmic energy," Leonard said.

Through map dowsing, she determined the location of 14 rows of graves in the current site of the stones at the end of Glen Erie Line. Leonard also estimated there were more than 250 graves.

Simple instructions to get you started, written by a professional dowser

by Louie Jerome

This simple method works for everyone. All need is a bit of concentration.First of all, draw a straight line on a piece of paper and hold your pendulum over it. I hold mine with the string between my finger and thumb and adjust the length until it feels right.Tell the pendulum to move along the straight line.

Keep telling it and maintain your concentration. It will do it.

Next, draw a circle on a large piece of paper and tell the pendulum to move clockwise, saying, "this is yes" Keep doing this until it does what you tell it.Then tell it to move anti-clockwise and say "this is no".

Keep repeating the instruction.Your pendulum can only answer yes or no so you need to frame your questions carefully. Once you have perfected this you have a simple to use, portable tool , that can answer any question by a process of elimination.

VIEWING THE HUMAN ENERGY FIELD

According to Judith Jubb a lifetime member of the American Society of Dowsers. The use of pendulums and other devices has become and continues to become more important to detecting subtle energies. The difference between the beliefs of old and modern science becomes less pronounced every year.

Research in Germany using microscopic photography has confirmed the presence of photon cells in the nervous system of the human body. Like in plants, the photon cells collect and store sunlight which is then converted into energy. It is this energy which flows through the nerves to chakras, organs and systems in the physical body to promote vitality.

In my lifetime I have heard the statement "Science can not prove", only to hear years later that science has now made this huge discovery about that very topic. When something can not be proven by scientific means, perhaps it is not real, perhaps science just does not have a method to prove it at that time.

Ancient art points dowser in right direction during a hunt

By Garret Mathews Friday, December 26, 2008

RICHLAND CITY, Ind. - Ask Duane Walter the inner secrets of dowsing, and the 71-year-old Spencer County man presses his thumb squarely against his temple.

"The mind is the world's greatest computer. Lots of people don't want to give the mind the credit it deserves."

He closes his eyes by way of demonstration.

"The dowser poses the problem to himself and then uses his total powers of concentration. You must have a driving force inside you that wants to find the answer to the very specific question.

"One time I was totally focused on finding unmarked grave sites at a rural cemetery. I had to have a buddy walk with me and take me by the hand to make sure I didn't trip over any stones. You can only do the one task at a time."

The retired power plant operations supervisor has been dowsing about 25 years, learning from "some old-timers who knew what they were doing." A member of the Spencer County Historical Society, he often gives talks and demonstrations on his craft.

"I'd say there are about five of us dowsers within a 100-mile radius. Some keep it quiet."

He laughs.

"Maybe they don't want people to think there's something wrong with them." Read the rest of Duane Walter's story on Dowsing

Craig resident believes spiritual forces heal emotional troubles

By Bridget Manley January 2, 2009

An aged man with a white beard and a low voice sits at a table, inches away from the woman sitting next to him.

Craig resident Herbert Parker, now in his 70s, has been many things in his life, including an English teacher and a chiropractor.

Now, however, he's something far different. Something far from conventional.

Something many might consider bizarre.

He's a "dowser."

In a process he calls "dowsing for past lives," Parker acts as a conduit through which other people's spirit guides, or a type of guardian angel, reveal details about their current and past existences.

Curiosity in the knowledge, or insight, that Parker offers is what brought the woman to his Craig home Wednesday. More than 20 other local people also have shown an interest in his teaching and have enrolled in his classes to seek self-awareness.

Parker and his visitor continue.

A card in front of Parker contains two quadrants. One is marked "yes," the other, "no."

He speaks aloud, asking a seemingly empty room, if the woman's spirit guide is present.

The pendulum swings over the quadrant.

"Yes."

He asks if she has a past life interfering with her previous one.

The pendulum swings.

"No."

It's a good sign for the woman. Parker believes trials not overcome in a past existence will continue to trouble a person in subsequent ones.

"If you keep on repeating the same lessons without learning anything you're not only hurting yourself," he said. "You're (also) not progressing."

Parker doesn't always tell people what they want to hear.

"(People) like to hear about past lives and that they're going to live forever, which you do," he said. "But you know something?

"They're very reluctant to learn about their past lives."

He said his clients often fear they will discover past trespasses that will haunt them. Instead, people would rather hear hopeful predictions of what will happen to them after death.

But, Parker insists it doesn't work that way.

"You have to know about your past life so you can correct it," he said, "so you can understand it and let it go."

Existences he said he's uncovered during his 30-year career as a dowser of past lives range from a 5-year-old Holocaust victim to a Native American farmer in Mexico during the 1600s.

In many cases, Parker said, he has revealed struggles that people failed to reconcile in their past lives and that continue to trouble them. Continue spiritual forces heal emotional troubles
