Degrassi: The Next Generation is a Canadian television show that has attracted thousands of viewers each time that it airs. Many of the people that I have talked to actually love watching Degrassi every week also. Of course, there are millions of reasons why one should love watching Degrassi: The Next Generation. I actually like it because it does give a fresh outlook to teenagers watching the show. The actors and actresses do an excellent job of giving me and everyone else a good half-hour of genuine, real life situations.

Furthermore, I think that Degrassi has great potential to reach out to a lot of the teenagers in high school in today's era. As Sean, Emma, Liberty, Toby, and the rest of the Degrassi high school gang go on throughout their daily lives; I have found it very easy to identify with many of the characters at various points throughout the show.

From the Composer Jim McGrath and from the Directors of Phil Earnshaw and Stefan Scaini and Executive Producer Linda Schuyler, Degrassi: The Next Generation is a Canadian television show that follows up from the earlier Degrassi series from the 1980s. However, the students who were part of the original Degrassi cast in the 1980s are now parents and adults living their lives in Degrassi: The Next Generation. They are now raising their own children who are taking their high school life through the Degrassi High School. Degrassi: The Next Generation is an awesome show that actually talks about real-life issues that are facing teenagers and high school students in today's era. For example, there is a Degrassi student on the show who was faced with having an abortion. There have also been regular television episodes that involve high school drug use, sex, as well as peer pressure and high school drama. There is hardly any issue that hasn't been tackled by Degrassi's creators and directors and they have all come together to give Canadian teenagers as well as the United States' teenagers a show to watch that they can finally identify with.

Some of the characters from the previous Degrassi television series that now star in Degrassi: The Next Generation includes Archie Simpson
who is played by Stefan Brogren and Joey Jeremiah, who is played by Pat Mastroianni. Some of Degrassi's high school students include the popular and very gorgeous Emma Nelson, Manny Santos, Paige Michalchuk, and Ellie Nash. Lauren Collins stars as Paige, Stacey Farber as Ellie, Miriam McDonald as Emma Nelson, and Cassie Steele as Manny Santos. James York is played by Ryan Cooley, Spinner is played by Shane Kippel, and Jimmy Brooks is played by Aubrey Graham. All of these characters and many more come together to create an excellent chemistry for viewers to watch. Viewers can watch Emma take a love roller-coaster ride from Sean to some of the other guys at Degrassi. There is also the matter of sexual orientation when Marco Del Rossi, played by Adamo Ruggiero, learns that he is homosexual.

Many other television viewers and critics have enjoyed this show and there have been many positive reviews from some of the well-respected television critics. For example, Jesse Hassenger from PopMatters when speaking about one of the episodes of Degrassi, said "Not only was the
episode compelling and entertaining, but it was also dramatic, effective, well-acted... good." But he is not the only one to endorse and rave about the Degrassi television show. The Canadian show has drawn in viewers from all over and has much more life left in the characters of the show!
