And what does it say?

The Gayatri Mantra is a highly revered mantra in Hinduism, second only to the mantra Om.

There are diffrent interpretations to the words of the Gayatri Mantra Here are 3 of them:

1. (a, b) "May we attain that excellent glory of Savitr the God:"(c) "So may he stimulate our prayers."

2. We meditate on the glory of the Creator;
Who has created the Universe;
Who is worthy of Worship;
Who is the embodiment of Knowledge and Light;
Who is the remover of all Sin and Ignorance;
May He enlighten our Intellect.

3. Oh God, the Protector, the basis of all life, Who is self-existent, Who is free from all pains and Whose contact frees the soul from all troubles, Who pervades the Universe and sustains all, the Creator and Energiser of the whole Universe, the Giver of happiness, Who is worthy of acceptance, the most excellent, Who is Pure and the Purifier of all, let us embrace that very God, so that He may direct our mental faculties in the right direction.
