Welcome
Obviously you can't make a song without a beat. Sometimes they carry the songs all by themselves. It doesn't matter if your gonna download them for your mixtape, album or demo you'll need a something to rap over. And best of all these are royalty free.

If you want to get Dr. Dre, Timbaland, Scott Storch, or Neptunes beat it will probably cost you hundreds of thousands. Or you would have to be a Hip Hop A-lister like Snoop Dogg, 50 cent, Eminem, or Jay-Z just to have a chance to rap over them. You can always download rap beats off of Napster like programs, but then you have the problem of them being copyrighted. And major record labels are starting to crackdown on artist that illegally use any of their copyrighted material. Such as DJ Drama and his Gangsta Grillz series.
So finding beats and instrumentals can be expensive if you don't already have a source to get them from or a good amount of cash to spend on them. That's why Beats 365 and Beats 2 rap 2 are the perfect solutions. They have a library of rap beats for you to download right now. They have all the different genres ranging from East Coast, West Coast, Dirty South, Midwest, Crunk and more.
Sometimes my friends and I don't like the same kind of instrumentals so these sites workout great. All we have to do is go through their library and choose whatever instrumental we want to rap on and download it. So if your an up and coming rapper in need of some beats I highly recommend Beats 365 and Beats 2 rap 2. These site will more than pay for themselves.

Rap beats and mixtape money
Download some rap beats and fill your mixtapes up with songs, freestyles, remixes, skits, exclusives, unreleased tracks or whatever good content you have. A famous host or a popular DJ wouldn't hurt either. Sometimes some of that stuff isn't possible so work with what you got and give them something good. Something to talk about, word of mouth will go along way.
Do what you will with your mixtapes, but I wouldn't recommend using already copyrighted beats. I know this can be very common in the mixtapes game, but then you won't have total control over your product. You don't own the beats and that might cost you money in the future. So put yourself in a position where you have complete control from the beginning. Just go to Beats 365 and Beats 2 rap 2 and get a whole library of beats that you an use today for whatever purpose you need them for.

Leveraging your mixtapes
Remember to always promote your brand. Make people look for your it and whatever products you have to offer. If they know who you are and liked a previous purchase, it will be a lot easier to sell them another one than to get a brand new customer. A good fan/customer base will play a big part to your success in the rap and mixtape game. So download those rap beats and just get started, you will build that fan base in due time.
Another way to leverage your music and your mixtapes is through sponsorship. Mixtapes are mostly used for promotional use anyway so why not ad some sponsors. If you don't have an established name it might be harder to get big time sponsors, but theres no reason why you can't get the smaller ones. Try local and small business's who's audience might be the same as yours. Get creative and I bet you can find someone who will sponsor you, but make sure your mixtape is good enough to make a sponsor want there name on it. And make sure those cd's have fold out covers so you can leverage the ad space.

Mixtape marketing
At the very least make your cover look interesting. If it looks like all the cd's and mixtapes around it than the cover isn't doing it's job. Make the person take a second look or better yet make them pick up your cd, read the back and then take it home with them. This isn't always easy to do so study up on marketing. It can bring you new customers that then turn into repeat customers.
If your already established your face alone can sell a cd, but if your not you should work on your marketing. Marketing is a pretty big subject to cover and hard to do it in just this article, so I suggest that if your gonna rap or be involved in the music business than study up on it. It's not just important in the music industry it plays a big part in any kind of business.
