Dr. Loren Borud is recognized as one of the most trusted plastic surgeons in the United States. Though he is currently in sabbatical, he is continuing to write a book on the business side of plastic surgery while handling his consultation projects.

However, it was the experiences in Harvard Medical School, where he was an attending plastic surgeon, instructor and assistant professor, which Dr. Loren Borud mostly wrote about. After all, it was in Harvard that he spent eight years of his medical profession, teaching students and leading various medical researches like those of lymphedema and its treatment, and body contouring after massive weight loss.
