Well I honestly don't know much about Dr. Mercola, but I do love a lot of the suggestions and remedies that Dr. Oz talks about. I watch his show everyday. I'm a huge fan

I think they're both pretty knowledgeable, but I bought one of Dr Oz's books, and it was filled with old wives tales. Mercola is much better, but I also think he's trying to make a buck.

I've had 3rd stage colorectal cancer 3 years ago when began investigating how to prevent recurrence. I stumbled upon Dr. Mercola's site and began using his metabolic type food plan in addition to following his suggestions for supplements. My oncologist says I whatever I'm doing to keep it up. All of my labs are perfect and even my liver has completely normalized.

Traditional "chemical' or "synthetic" medicine nearly killed me, damaged my liver and kidneys. My only option is natural medicine, which is fine with me because synthetic stuff always made me feel more miserable, and the natural always helps me feel so much better. I can live in health, without pain, without chronic illness, and without misery. My family is healthy, strong, and pharmaceutical free.

You know what alternative medicine that actually works is called?

Medicine.

There is no such thing as alternative medicine, there is treatments that work, and then there's the quackery that is perpetrated by so-called "alternative" practitioners - who're trying to sell you alternatives to actually getting effective treatment from a genuine medical doctor.

I'm subscribed to Mercola but not to Dr Oz -Mercola seems to be a great wealth of knowledge in all things naturopathic, even the newest most topical things which is great!

I check on what Mercola has to say against others in the field like Andrew Weil, M.D. or Mary G. Enig, Ph.D., etcetera. Mercola is strongly trying to sell his products and is a little self-righteous. So I don't take ever word from his mouth as true without reading other sources.

Dr. Oz is for the most part is off his mark, he gives recommendations that do not mke sense if you know anything about health. Dr. Mercola is a total fanatic nd asks you to do wht is impossible for the average person. I tried his protein diet and I am no sick with too many heart palpataions that I did not have before.

I try a lot of natural means of health, and have had good results with suggestions from both men. Still, I don't take what they say strictly on their word; I like to do my own research before I decide.

I've been into and studying nutrition, wholistic health, alternative medicine and preventive medicine for over 25 years! I read and stay informed and check out things that might seem suspicious to me. I have friends in the medical community that do believe in alternative methods, so I can consult with them also. I also believe that traditional medicine has its place and it will be nice when all the approaches can work together to help people to get healthy and stay healthy.

The whole "quack" thing is a scam. The main inspiration for the term came from conventional doctors over one hundred years ago. It was used to discredit competition. This was during a time when conventional med was blood letting etc. Not much has changed since. There are "quacks" in conventional med as well as alternative. But those who proclaim they are on a quackwatch, don't seem to pay any mind to those in their own camp. Or to be more clear, there are "quack" treatments and ones that work. But both camps have protocols that don't work. So the only real issue is whether we are going to be equitable about our judgment. And the use of the word quack is not really necessary or helpful. Better to simply say there are treatments that work and those that don't - but that won't make the headlines.
