Pulitzer Prize
It was in 1984 when Dr. Seuss won the Pulitzer Prize. The award was given to him in recognition of his lifetime contribution to literature. Long before he was bestowed the honer, he was already well known and loved by children.
I have many authors and that I like, but when I thought about it, I recalled, as a child, how crazy I would go over any Dr. Seuss book. To me his work is far more than "children's literature" he was a reading teacher and early childhood development instructor by sharing his books and allowing million/billions the gift of reading.

Mom Always Read Dr. Seuss Books to Me and Enhanced My Childhood Development
Most of us have been exposed to Dr. Seuss and his creative literature at one time or another throughout our lives. My mother use to the take time out of her busy single mom activities to make sure my childhood development grew with each and every day by reading to me when I was younger. Dr. Seuss was definitely one of my favorites during reading time just before bed. My mother would interact and create her spin on Dr. Seuss's books by tickling or making funny sounds while she read to enhance the reading environment.
Little did she know that the skills when reading in a happy manner also taught me, as a parent now, to read to my son in that same manner? Learning to read is a lost art in the most common sense of today. Today's schools generally teach children to read by sight words and not the traditional manner of using phonics (phonics -better described as sounding out each individual letter to make words) as we did in the past.
Teaching your children to read with phonics while using a classic and yet popular Dr. Seuss book such as "Green Eggs and Ham", before school even starts will benefit your child for years to come. Reading enhances the thought process and exercises the brain during early childhood development.
Make the most of reading Dr. Seuss books with your children and create precious memories like my mother did for me. Make it your own personal family tradition of reading and spending time with your child and they will pass it on to their children as well when time comes.
